What a bunch of dopey answers and "references".
Fact: In order to collect welfare and food stamp benefits, one must PROVE residency....Most places REQUIRE not only a Social Security number (which can be purchased on the black market) AND either a birth certificate, naturalization papers, passport, residency papers and a copy of a recent utility bill showing "paid" and the current address of residency. PERIOD!!!
There are NO exceptions. Now, if a person has minor children, is single and working; and if the children (or child) was born here, they can receive AID TO DEPENDENT CHILDREN which is a program which is based on "per child" for use to buy food, pay rent, etc. This is NOT welfare. It is similar to WIC and other programs for the working poor.
As for not pulling their own weight??? Anyone in our country who is uneducated or undereducated and is working at a minimum wage job is UNDERPAYING taxes based on services used.
As for health care? 47 million AMERICANS are without healthcare insurance and another 50 million are underinsured. When these folks need medical care, they go to the emergency rooms at hospitals too, using the same services, costing the same money. No hospital is going to kick a sick person to the curb and refuse to treat them...American or Martian.
I am referencing the U.S. government GAO report for 1997 because it was the first one I found. Anyone interested in the FACTS will take the time to hunt up the later reports. For the dummies, GAO is the Government Accounting Office in Washington.
If you read this report, you will see that the amount of "aid" to illegal aliens with American born children is a drop in the bucket compared to the fraud perpetrated by our own red-blooded, good ole American citizens who prefer to sit on their butts or work "under the table" and collect every benefit available to them. At least most immigrants who come here work....that is shown in this report also, for those who bother to read it.
Meanwhile, our country is a nation of immigrants both legal and illegal. It has always been this way. Your ancestors came from someplace else too - and not always at the invitation of the government. So, knock it off.
Until our own Washington bureaucrats tighten our borders, there will be border hoppers. There was a perfectly good immigration reform bill that was NOT passed in Congress a few months ago....thanks to the idjits and morons who know nothing about government, nothing about border control and who only watch Fox Noise and listen to the Limbaughs of the world.
Anyone who really believe that we are going to build a fence almost 3000 miles long on our southern border is kidding himself. Even if it was built, border-hoppers will simply bring bigger ladders, tunnel under it or blown a hole in it. That is not the answer.
We need a comprehensive overhaul of our immigration policy. We need to tighten border control both north and south and at our ports and airports - combined with an immigration policy that will actually work.

Public assistance benefits are managed by the state, not federal government. As such, policies regarding eligibility vary greatly. In Wisconsin, for example, Undocumented are NOT able to get any benefits- at all. At the application interview, we match the person's social security number to a federal database, and, if it doesn't match, the interview is immediately over. That is it.
However, WIC is open to income-eligible people- regardless of immigration status, (this is a program that provides healthy food and formula to children under 5). Also, the "Healthy Start" program provides birthing expenses for babies of income-eligible families. The issue with this is easy: The child is a citizen of the US. As such, his birth and medical expenses while being born are paid for. Also, what the above posters stated is true: IF they give false information to the emergency room personnel, then, they can be treated and not pay. Of course, the same goes for you or I. If I have someone else's information, or, go in with no ID and claim to be JANE SMITH, they have to treat me, also.....

the way they get freebies without a ssn is called a tax id number. its basically a ssn. when they go to apply for benefits they assign them this number. and also with this number they are able to get credit cards and buy homes. that is why there was such an outrage with bank of america last year. they allowed them to get bank accounts and buy homes through them.

I'm sure most of these won't fit your opinion on unbiased sources because they are anti-illegals, but FAIR and ALIPAC are pro immigration and pro immigration reform.
Also Daniel where is your source on the EEOC, last I knew the Ex-Director Ida Castro made it a crime of discrimination to not hire the illegals before she quit.
After she did that it became cheaper for the companies to hire an illegal and pay the governments fine then to refuse to hire them and pay for the lawsuit the EEOC would bring against them for discrimination.

Link 1 - Health care providers can charge the government for emergency care provided to illegal aliens beginning Tuesday.
Link 2 - By law, pregnant women cannot be denied medical care based on their immigration status or ability to pay. OK, fine. That doesn't mean they should receive better care than everyday, middle-class American citizens. But they do.

It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that your staement is true. Pregnant illegal women show up at hospitals in large numbers to have their babys and are not turned away. The same goes when illegals visit the emergency room.

Anti's have stated time after time that, (1) Undocumented Crime wave, (2) undocumented do not pay taxes (3) That they use billions of dollar of social services. (4) That they take away Americans jobs , who are fired to hire Cheaper undocumented labor (outlawed by EEOC)
They never show creditable documentation (neutral source ) :"Government or respected University" to document their assumptions.

Disprove this......
LA County Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich has announced that a new report shows illegal aliens and their families in Los Angeles County collected over $35 million in welfare and food stamp allocations in July.
In the report, illegals are said to have collected nearly $20 million in welfare assistance for July 2007 and an additional $15 million in monthly food stamp allocations for an estimated annual cost of $440 million.
“Illegal immigration continues to have a devastating impact on Los Angeles County taxpayers,”said Antonovich. “In addition to $220 million for public safety and $400 million for healthcare, the $440 million in welfare allocations bring the total cost to County taxpayers that exceeds $1 billion a year -- this does not include the skyrocketing cost of education.”
EDIT: just what I thought.....you've got no response and zero facts
