The fact that you are asking this question would lead us to believe that your "mother" has not been to the vet, nor has she had prenatal care. Please take your dog to the vet ASAP.
Back- yard breeding is such a serious issue. Please love your pet enough to educate yourself regarding the pitfalls of this "business".

I do not know because when my dogs have their puppies they disappear for a couple of days and then I find them in a closet or on a low bathroom shelf. I hope you find out because sometimes we find a puppy or two dead so I think it would be better if you knew when it was time.
I am going to keep an eye on this question so I can get some pointers.

BTW, great question and good luck.

She will be agitated and walking all over in circles. Also she will be looking for a place to have them. Trying to make a nest, you can close her off to one small area where she can lay down and have her pups where it is quite. You could line a box with newspapers, the box will help keep the pups from going to far from mom and help keep them warm, no drafts. Usually they do really well with no help. Most mother dogs lick their pups and take care of the afterbirth and everything all by themselves. You should find all the pups nursing on the mother dog in the end.

Make sure you do a lot of research before the puppies come so that you are educated. You have a lot of work ahead of you. I would google whelping and read as much as you can. Talk with your vet. Once the puppies come, make sure they all go to the vet, including mom.

It's no good telling someone with no experience whatsoever, to take a rectal reading. By the time they've torn the anal walls, there will be two things to worry about. A very sore, frightened *****, and an irresponsible owner who didn't research before allowing a ***** in whelp.

Don't worry, you will know. She won't want you there anyhow. Nature has a way of taking care of things. She'll just have them, clean them all up and will start to feed the on her own. If you have a good dog, she'll go ahead and find homes for them too, and just give you a big bag of cash when it's all over.

She'll stsrt turning in circles and whinning. Make her a spot with a cover (you will throw away) and let her know thats her spot and when she has her puppies make her have them in that spot and check on her periodically to make sure everything is going okay. Make sure n puppies roll under her or the blanket etc. And if its your dos, YOU are the ONLY who should be handling her and her puppies.
Good luck!
