Some female cats spray, but that is rare. What you will have to deal with is that somewhere around 6 months of age, she will come in season, and will yowl and scream and drive you up the wall all day and half the night as she wails for a suitor. That will last about 5 days. If you're lucky, it will be a few more months until her next heat. If you're not lucky, it will be only a few weeks... And of course, during her heat cycles, she will do *anything* to race past you when the door is open, so she can search for a male to sire her kittens. If she gets out, she could come into contact with sick cats, get killed by a dog or a car, get lost and never be seen again, etc. Not to mention, if she does come back, she'll present you with kittens 9 weeks later and you won't be able to afford those either.... Contact your local Humane Society and maybe they will do the spay more cheaply.

May I make a suggestion?? Wait a few days until you name it.
We got a black and white kitten, my wife named him Gabriel, because he was such a little angel.
We now call him "Crash!"
Some frjends did the same. While waiting to name him, they called him "Cat." And ":Cat" became his name.
