I have had this pain on and off for the last 10 years. pain in my ribs on the lower right side. When it is severe it is warm and VERY tender to the touch. The rest of the time it almost feels like a bruise. Does anyone know what it could be?

Sound like slipping rib syndrome. For example if you do something like lift a chair and you only do this once a month chances are you have pulled a muscle and then the rib is allowed to slip. The fact that it is warm to the touch, indicates inflammation.

It's been quite a long time that you're having that pain. I think it's time to see a doctor. Maybe it's not the rib itself, but an internal organ, like liver, ... I'd seen a doctor soon if I were you.

Definately see a good doctor as soon as you can. I agree, it sounds like your liver or another organ in the area. Pains like that are not normal and should be taken seriously. Be kind to yourself ^_^
