actually the person above me is WAAY WRONG!! i dont know where he/she got their source from... my father is an airtraffic controller...
here are some stats:
Your chances of being involved in an aircraft accident are about 1 in 11 million. On the other hand, your chances of being killed in an automobile accident are 1 in 5000. Statistically, you are at far greater risk driving to the airport than getting on an airplane. However, the perception is that you have more control over your fate when you are in your car than as a passenger traveling on an airplane. Experience shows otherwise, considering that over 50,000 people are killed on the highways every year.

If you are flying by plane you have 0.00000067% chances of crashing. Flying by plane is 10 times safer than travelling on the road and is as safe as sitting at home.

Over 5000 737s have been built, only around 130 have crashed badly enough to destroy the aircraft-so that is about 0.26% of them have crashed. But there are some airliner types that have never crashed badly-777, A340, A318, A330 etc.
The chances are pretty slim.

Always sit at the very front of the plane if you're afraid it's going to crash.
That way, if the plane's crashing, the trolley with the alcohol drives past you a second time;).
Not that a plane crash is likely lol as said above.
