Is that bad? I do feel like I am sinning when I watch something totally unChristian. When hubby was watching "House" last night, Dr.House started chewing out a dying man for believing he was going to a better place, as he is atheist. Right there made me want to leave the room, but thought, "Hey, maybe he'll find the truth." But there aren't many shows that don't have some sinning in them, and I guess it's just like real life; you can't always shelter yourself away from the sinning of the world. A show that uses the Lord's name in vain, however, is an instant 'shut-off' for me.

Yes. I have looked at something and felt the prodding of the Holy Spirit to turn it off. Like the other day I tried to watch the new Caveman show. It was awful and had too many sexual situations for me. I changed the channel. That is why I look at the old black and white shows on TMC or buy my own videos. At least I am relatively safe there. So sad.

Yes, I try to watch good TV as much as possible. I am so disappointed though when I think I am watching someting worthwhile and they start to curse or have some type of sexual meaning. If I watch it I feel like I am disobeying the Lord, even though at times I have not got up to turn it off.

I am very careful about what I watch. I watch the news, the cooking channel,,old things like Matlock and most of the Hallmark movies. I watch things that I am pretty sure are not going to have any content, I would be ashamed of watching. I watch TBN sometimes,,the Inspiration network, old movies, and movies rated with a G or if they are PG,,I find out why.....
I watch mysteries, and things like the 4400, Jericho, American Idol, Lost,,,I don't watch recent movies....and I don't go to the movies anymore...tonight I will watch KId Nation and kitchen nightmares...thank God they bleep on this show or I wouldn't be able to watch it. You can find things to watch but you have to be careful.

I have to laugh at the statement on sin, by the previous commenter. What is it to sin? what is it to be a spectator in your own home - weather its a television- which, by the way is Latin in language structure - get that straight. I perceive it more as an acceptable village cryer that we all access, regardless of where it is- even here in cyber reality. I normally use that vehicle ( T.V) as a part of my work. Being a tarot reader ( psychic) it just provides a rolling free range tarot spread of sorts. but then churchers would say the same about finding meaning in parables. To me it's just another medium like paint to chalk.

Not if I have something to learn from it. But it is interesting the number of TV shows that deal with faith in an episode or two -
"House" (this past week's); "Eureka;" "Battlestar Galactica;"
I'm sure I can think of others.
I definitely want to see "Brokeback Mountain" and "The Last Temptation of Christ." I sense I could learn quite a lot from both those films (even if they are works of fiction).
But I gotta say, I don't normally plop down on the couch, flip on "" and think, "WWJD."

I live in the "Bible Belt", and here there is a sick demarcation between sex and violence. Parents will do anything they can to keep their children from watching or thinking about sex in any way, shape, or form, but they'll (with zeal) watch shows like "Walker, Texas Ranger" with their 5 year olds. I had to tune in just to see what the deal is, and that show is CRAZY violent and perverted!

Why are people so ignorant even although this controversy has an extremely sturdy, and fact? The Democratic occasion of the late nineteenth century replace into no longer something like the Democratic occasion of right this moment, and this is a similar for the Republican occasion. The Democratic occasion tended to be the racist occasion until favorite Democrats took a stance against racism and segregation like JFK, then the racist democrats became dixiecrats, and then lots of the racist ones died off, then Nixons southern innovations-set attracted them to the Republicans, then maximum of them died off to boot. in fact maximum persons right this moment at the instant are not racist no remember their occasion, and honestly lots of the main intense racists are already ineffective or extremely old. only seem into US history and you may locate those issues out.

I only watch the news and weather. I don't even have cable or satellite. There are no shows that Jesus or God would approve of this day in time.

So, what would the Bible be rated, exactly?
I mean, Mel Gibson aside, the Bible is violent and scary, start to finish. Fall of man, Cain and Abel, God killing EVERYTHING except for between two and eight of a given species, Joseph getting dumped in a hole by his brothers, the Plagues, Pharaoh's men getting swallowed by the sea, Sodom and Gomorrah, Lot and his daughters, the histories, the crucifiction, revalation, and that's off the top of my head.
Die Hard is less violent, less suggestive, and more moral than the Bible.
