My cousin is married to a man who says he is a Mormon, and she has to wear skirts, can't use birth control and can't use microwaves. My mother and I ran into some Mormon missionaries at our local BP and we asked about these things and they said that things like that are not required. Is he some weird fundamentalist freak or is he just ridiculously controlling?

These are not teachings of the LDS Church. The church has no policy regarding birth control or microwaves. Most Mormon women wear skirts to Church on Sunday, but not during weekdays. Even on Sunday, skirts are not "required." For more information about Mormons, visit my site: http://www.allaboutmormons.com

That is not L.D.S. I personally only wear a skirt to church or the temple. I have been told, but am not sure, that the Seventh Day Adventist's have the women wear skirts.

I thought also that is was pentacostal and the person that mentioned JW is probably right also. I think at one time the mormons wanted their women in skirts also. Growing up catholic we never wore pants to church. I still don't.

so some distance as christianity is going: they positioned on skirts to conceal up and be modest. some do no longer shrink their hair b/c there's a bible verse that declares that angels seem down on a human female and that they are envious of a female's hair even although they're basically people. additionally, the bible says to no longer shrink your hair while you're a female (they take it literal, i think of it potential do exactly no longer buzz all of it off. u could desire to trim it and charm it and guard it) lots of conservative denominations of christianity do have those rules. the bible is what they suspect to be absolute fact, so as that they are only attempting to honor it interior the main literal experience.

It could be both. There are some within the church that have more conservative ideas. There are some in the greater "mormon" religion that are not part of the church in Utah that are more conservative about these things.

Sounds to me like he's a ridiculously controlling fundie, and possibly jealous. She should get away before he goes psycho.
