Donate that money to a worthy charity, start your retirement savings, or sponsor a local kids college education.

The way I understand it, the tithe is for charity, not necessarily for the church. So if you're not going to church, you can donate it to any worthy cause. However, just because you don't go to church much anymore, there's no reason you can't mail a donation to the church. I'm sure they will cash the check without a qualm. Or, you could set it aside and when you do go, give the money then.

What I don't get is why you still feel tithing is necessary. We all need to do our share, but I find tithing a bit much for those of us who don't have much.

If in your heart you are inclined to give (a great thing to have) but cannot give to a church, why not use this money for the work God may do through you directly? Buy a Bible and give it to your best friend, invite this snobbish girl you know to dinner and share with her, support a missionary family you know, or why not use it to go on a short mission trip yourself?

Just some ideas...

Another idea I just had was to open up God's bank account so that you have an amount sitting there for Him to use as He wishes. You pray about it and when a need arises, you would be then able to contribute to something more substantially or with greater flexibility that way.

Well one goes with the other. Tithing and Church attendance goes hand in hand. That is the doctrine of most major Church denominations. Some churches say that charity or other donations given outside the church doens't count as your 10% tithe. That is not what I say however. I say give what you wish to whomever you wish. If you don't want to give to a church don't. I give to the Baptist Childrens home. It has nothing to do with my church but it is for a worthy cause. I do give money to church but I give what I can and not what some church doctrine tells me to give.

Well first of all your always supposed to tithe with a cheerful heart and WANT to tithe not HAVE to. But if you still want to tithe there are many missionaries and such not connected directly to a church. You can make a pledge and mail or transfer the money by Internet.

Sounds like you are feeling kind of guilty. Are you going through a spiritual dry spell? Is this why you don't want to attend church any longer? I hope that you pray about it and return.

To answer your question, you can mail your tithe in if you still want to give, but perhaps you can start back on Sundays only and give it another try.

Blessings

Giving is an important. Here are a few more thoughts to encourage you to continue giving:

"Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God." 2 Corinthians 9:10-11. Thus, giving generously is known to God and the giver is blessed for further service.

If, however, one bears a grudge against another, it must be resolved first. Matthew 5:23-24. Living at peace results in many kinds of blessings. 1 Thessalonians 5:13.

Finally, I hope that you can find a group of Christians with whom you can study and fellowship. Acts 2:42; Hebrews 10:23-25.

Christians should not subject themselves to the Old Testament law of the tithe. Instead, they should give according to the following four New Testament guidelines. Christian giving should be:
·
Proportional to one's income (1 Corinthians 16:2, 2 Corinthians 8:12)
·
Consistent (1 Corinthians 16:2)
·
Sacrificial (Mark 12:43-44, 2 Corinthians 8:2-3)
·
Cheerful (2 Corinthians 9:7)

I'm sure you can work it out from there!

Three things keep me strong in the Lord, reading the bible daily, praying daily & going to church at least 2ice a week. Don't let the devil seperate you from the love of God, the only way this will happen is if you allow it to happen. Look for another church where you can get fed but please don't stop going to church. Jesus said do not fail to congregate as the pagans do. Peace & Love.

You should tithe then. You know that it is commanded. That money is Father's. Tithe back to your old church, or if you don't want to, then tithe to humanitarian such as the red cross.

Find a Charity organization that you support and that reflects what you feel is important. Investigate their non-profit status to be sure that the money is going where they say it is, and donate to them. The purpose of the tithe is to help those around us and to further the efforts of Christ in love, so give to some organization that you feel exemplifies your beliefs.
