I inherited a shotgun from my grandpa, it was made in 1897, its in good condition but is kinda gummed up inside, so I was thinking about taking it apart and cleaning it, what should i use.

Go to ***** sporting goods store and buy a Hoppes Shotgun cleaning kit for the gauge your shotgun is. You might want to also get a bore-snake for the gauge your shotgun is.

SnapperH nailed this one. A Hoppe's cleaning kit is a great inexpensive idea to clean your antique shotgun. The cleaning chemicals/Solvent and Oil will not hurt or harm the metal or wood stock of your shotgun at all. They also come with complete dirtections on step-by-step use of the kit and the contents..Good Luck...

Hoppes # 9 solvent, and lube it with Hoppes gun oil.
