This is not intended to offend, Im sure very many have usefull information, but recently I have got some answers that were total b.s, for instance... No GED, No Bonus.....they said thats how it was, but i now have personal expieriance to prove otherwise, and numerous other things on other peoples questions, that were, well, uninformed. My question is, do you guys think that people with irrelevant information, (man OR woman) should go around posting answers they dont really know, simply because they feel entitled to because there spouse is in the millitary? Not trying to be offensive, I have received numerous answers from guys and gals who are millitary spouses, that were very helpfull and informative, bu ten times as many from those who most certainly are not. Are these people know-nothing-know-it-alls, or is just a matter of person to person in the millitary, na dif so, should I just wait and see whats in store for me?

I believe some of them THINK they know, based on secondhand info they got from their spouse/neighbor/whoever.

Since I retired, it amazes me how many "active duty spouses" want to tell me how things are in the military. Trust me, I figured it out during my 20 years.

On the other hand, this entire site has its share of Cliff Clavins, who think they know the answer to all manner of things. Let's not just beat up on one segment; this is a Yahoo Answers disease.

You are right... there are spouses on here who are giving out wrong info. I think most of us, however, just answer questions relating to things that we have personal experience with.
Unfortunately, many people just address questions to "military", and don't specify a branch. And many spouses don't realize that the game is played differently in each service.
Finally, there are things that vary from person to person, from base to base. I know that in 5 different base I have heard at least 15 different things from the housing office!! And many folks think that what they have experienced is the same as what we all experience.

Me.... I'll stick to my AF info and spouse info, and being as accurate as humanly possible!

I think this one was for me.

Spouses have a plethora of information about the military. We live and breathe it just as much has our spouses do. We take care of EVERYTHING while they are gone and sometimes whe they are home too. Personally, I did everything to enlist in the AF but they wouldn't let me because of our son. My husband really wanted to join so he did instead of me. My father was in the AF for 30 years and retired as an E-9, he then went back as a GS-15. He was and still is OSI. I have a damn good idea of what goes on in the AF. My husband does talk to me. He has spent more time in Iraq and Afghanistan then he has a home so guess who has to do everything from finance to travel vouchers when there is a Hurricane Evac to PCS's? ME

You're not even in the Army yet and you act like this?!

Next time you want to attack me, just put my name on the damn question!

Your best bet is always go to the source such as a recruiter. You can even look on line for alot of useful info from reliable sources.
I agree alot of people do give out BS info some may not really know, others thing they do.
My only thing is I have been out for awhile and I know the military changes things at a moments notice so what was of yesterday may not be as of today.

I am a military spouse and I respect your question. I see answers from spouses that make me ashamed. I try not to answer questions that aren't about issues concerning spouses. But at the same time,it's hard not to state your opinion when someone insults the military because you are married to it!!

Some spouse like to support he or she soldier and want to know more about them situation or with others to be prepare for the best or the worse. Some are fanatic about military's stuff other not like me. My husband is a soldier but I am not a fanatic about what he believes in things that I don't support at all. I have met wifes with Sergeant husbands and know almost about everything, but that depends about what they believes and how supportive they are.

That is THE biggest problem with people asking for help on here, is that any portion of any answer can be wholly incorrect and if the person asking uses that info as basis for a life changing decision...holy crap!

Lots of people on here simply answer ANYTHING just to get points, regardless of how correct their answer is.

If you want a reliable, truthful answer then don't ask on yahoo answers at all. Anyone can answer with anything they want.
