yes, I know, I'm probably dreaming... But I can't afford the price of those kittens , and my girlfriend (and myself I have to say ! :-) ) is craving to have one of those adorable creatures !

Thanks a lot for your help!

Also, she likes Maine Coon a lot ! So same question really .
Note that we don't need a 'pedigree' (pure breed) , it's more the size and the look of the cat that interests us!

Thanks again

Most breeders of pure-bred cats don't make a lot of money at it. They do have to cover their expenses so that's why a pure-bred cat will never be free.

My cat Mincho is a Norwegian Forest wannabe. He has so many of that "breed's" characteristics. I found him when I was volunteering at a shelter.

So go to your shelters. If you don't find exactly what you have in mind it may come along eventually. I imagine you and your girlfriend will not go more than once before finding a wonderful cat that, whatever it looks like, you will find hard to resist.

Simple answer?? NO! I know this because I was in the same position as you guys when I was desperately after a Maine Coon kitten but didn't want to pay £400 for it.

As these are by majority pedigree cats (hence the features you refer to) and more importantly a "kitten" you are highly unlikely to get one at a shelter etc (I tried 6 shelters and they didn't have any) or any place for free. Even those which come without papers aren't sold for less than £175.

What do you do??/What I did! Pay and get one and within the first minute you'll fall headover heels over the kitty and wont give a second thought about how deep the hole in your pocket feels :)

Good luck ;)

Would you be wanting an adult cat???

would you be letting the cat out???

I am in North Essex i think you can email me from here

I have a white Maine coon boy who needs to be in an only cat home and not allowed out he is 2 years old and weighs 22LB

Should add I vet all owners you will have to show me you could care for him daily grooming cant be fed on cheap supermarket brand food, could you afford his vet bills?

I could do you a deal where i would remain his owner and you would care for him and have him live with you if you could honstley look after him
he has 2 more years of growth left and its fed RC maine coon with James well beloved chicken and rice, 4 small sheba tins a day
only drinks from a running tap.

These are very valuable kittens and as they are still fairly rare in the UK, it's most unlikely that you will get one for free. However try contacting the specific breed rescue society who may have cats for rehoming. They are lovely cats so good luck.

You're dreaming BIG! Those go for $700 here in the US. My mother in law has one. Look at the shelter for a mix maybe. Again, check with shelter for Maine Coon look-a-likes. I have a guy who looks exactly like a Siberian I got at the pound for $20.

I doubt it highly. The simple fact that you are looking for a specific breed among all the cat's out there makes me think the immediate answer would be NO!!....But you never know miracles do happen.....Try looking through the local newspaper or you could search for a website for the local city you are in that has some kind of classifieds in it that people who live in the city post.

Check online for cat breed rescues in your area. It's the only way I know you have a possibility of getting one at low cost. Not free, but definately not paying the going rate!
