I can understand the reasoning for doing that. But like others have said, everyone pees, so there's really no reason to be embarrassed. Besides, when they see you going into the bathroom, they know that you're probably going to either pee or do the other thing---unless you're just going in there to wash your hands or do a make-up adjustment.
Okay, I just realized that I am a guy and probably should not be answering this question. Oh well.

I do. The rest room at my job is right next to someone's desk ,I always worry if they can hear me so I turn the faucet on just in case.
