On our own: nothing.
By God's Grace:everything
We are washed of the sinfulness of Original Sin by Baptism, but we have to struggle with the reality of our fallen condition by ever cooperating with Grace and living by faith, hope and love.
We return or strengthen grace and commitment through faith, hope and love in a wonderful way in the sacrament of Confession and Absolution, the Sacrament of reconciliation and Forgiveness and our commited sins are washed from us in the Blood of Christ.

The reality and effects of Original Sin and our inherited reality of being subject to death of body mind and spirit are all around us. As St Paul in Romans said"That which I would ,Ido not do and that which I would not do, I do."

As GK Chesterton said." Oringinal Sin is the one doctrine I can prove by looking in the mirror."

Inheritence of guilt and blame from conception and the "total depravity"of the Reformation take on Augustine are not evident or necessary in a Western view of Original Sin IMHO

Original sin was hardly a new concept in the third and fourth centuries. Paul spoke extensively on man's sinful nature in the first century. And water doesn't wash away sin -- the grace of God does that. Baptism was also around long before the advent of Catholicism (third or fourth century). Jesus was baptized. The disciples were baptized. They baptized a lot of other people. All in the first century. The Catholic Church did introduce infant baptism, and consequently, the method of baptism by sprinkling. This is useless for an infant (or young child) isn't old enough to accept Jesus as his or her personal Savior. If a non-baptised baby , or young child dies, they go to heaven regardless.

What original sin? The only people full of sin are the ones that believe in the original sin.
Have a good sin.

nothing, you can't do anything about it, it's already been done. you need only account for yourself. John said 'I baptize you with water, but he who comes after me will baptize you with fire' (paraphrased) I think that in order to enter Heaven you must be purified by having your sins burned away from you. I don't care if that isn't in agreement with catholicism, or baptist or protestant or whatever other demoninations are out there, it makes more sense to me than a lot of other things I've heard.

We don't have the concept of Orginal Sin, in Judaism. So to answer your question - nothing! Don't need to do anything about something that doesn't exist.

Well obviously original sin isn't dealt with by electing the right pope. Original sin was dealt with on the cross, of whom there is no substitute. For "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved." And that name is not the pope.

I am sorry to tell you the answer to this question is that there is nothing that you can do to change it no matter how many time the question is asked, the answer is still the same, it happened too long ago to change it now....

We can accept the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ into our hearts. By doing so we will be cleansed of all iniquity, have our souls saved, be received into the royal family of God, have Jesus himself as a friend who sticks closer than a brother and intercedes for us constantly, enjoy the peace of Christ which surpasses all understanding and the greatest gift of all gain ETERNAL LIFE with him!
God bless you.

That is, of course, assuming that the whole legend wasn't made up as an object lesson by crafty tribal elders in order to keep recalcitrant desert nomads in line. :-) No sin is original -- it's all been done before, because we are human and we are imperfect.

Nothing. There's no such thing. It was invented as a fear tactic to lure converts to Christianity. The very idea that following generations of people can be guilty of their ancestors wrongdoing is silly and not worth discussing. This is my belief on the subject and I am not trying to insult or disrespect your faith. That's the way I see it.
