my faith ..

I gave up my religion for my spiritual beliefs or 'faith'. Since doing so I am much happier, more tolerant, more caring, my relationships with others have improved and I hope I have become a better person.
I think sometimes a person becomes so wrapped up in minor doctrines and teachings, that they miss out on understanding the big picture. Like a horse with blinkers on, they see only a narrow scope of the world around them.
Being an atheist, I don't often quote the Bible, but here I'd like to make an exception. In the Gospels, Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for emphasizing minor commandments such as tithing and cleanliness, whilst completely forgetting to show love and compassion. One sees a sad amount of this behavior on R&S.
Something else that I find equally disappointing is some of the atheists here who on the one hand clamor for equal rights for gays, speak about open mindness and berate theists for their intolerance, yet will unashamedly bash people for no reason other than that they are not atheists.
They can't see the forest for the trees and this saddens me.
I think it is important to ensure one does not become inflexible and dogmatic. You have to take stock occasionally, access what basic values are most important to you and learn not to become so wrapped in expressing yourself and sharing your views, that you try to force everyone to be carbon copies of yourself.
I find my spiritual beliefs growing and evolving on a daily basis, which means I constantly have to adjust outlook and attitude. I don't mean that I'm wishy washy, just that I try to constantly learn and improve. It's hard, but I think if you don't try, you stagnate.

(sorry if that was a mindless ramble...writing helps clear my brain a little...I find it therapeutic lol)

Neither. The faith of Christ is more important to me.

2Peter 1:1 states that faith is received. Note the word "obtained".

"Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:"

I can give you many verses to back this up. In fact, we cannot even call out Abba, Father and mean it without the Spirit. Most of us think that our will is our faith. We are will worshippers by nature. Will worship is tied into proving something for yourself.

I have to confess that the faith of the Kamikaze pilot and the faith of the islamic suicide bomber is stronger than my faith....so if this type of faith is the acid test for what is truth, they win the contest.

No, I am counting on the faith of Christ that was given to me only because I still desired it even after I realized I could not earn it, figure it out, or conjure it up to my own satisfaction.

Jesus saves.

Could you explain yourself when you say "faith" opposed to faith. Some people do not understand. Without faith you have belief and without belief you have faith. They come hand in hand so it's either one or the other.

I'm one of the most non-traditional Christians you will find...so I have to say it's my faith, not a religion or denomination.

My relationship with Jesus is more important.
My personal faith is more important than just my faith as a Christian.

Faith could not exist without faithlessness. They appear opposite but are quite interwoven!
