I have a daughter and I know that I will always be there for her and always have a responsibility towards her. That being said though, I will not support her financially as an adult.
I think parents should support their kids in their decisions and help them anyway they can. But I can't stand when I see parents paying for their 24-25 year old adult children to live. At that age, with some exceptions, a person should be able to support themselves. And I think if you're a parent supporting them into their late twenties, early thirties you are doing more harm to them because they will never learn to survive on their own.
It's a parent's responsibility to their child to teach them to be self-sufficient and hard-working. So in a way a parents responsibility to their child never ends because at every stage in your life you are teaching your child how to be a responsible adult and that is the biggest gift you can give your child.

That depends on how you define "responsibility".
You really do no have a financial responsibility toward your children past 18 years of age. Undergraduate education is something most people want for their child. If parents can afford it, wonderful. If not, the child can receive financial aid.
As far as unconditional love and support? You are always their parent, mentor and even spiritual advisor and that responsibility never stops, nor should it.

Legally until the child is 18 or 21 depending on the laws for their area, beyond that, it is up to the individual. A loving and caring parent will assist a child until for what ever reasons they cannot, or for their lifetime. Although there does come a time when a parent has to make a child stand on their own.

From the child's point of view -- until the age of 18, when they can legally move out of the house.
As a parent, always. It is everlasting, and never ending. Parents feel a loving responsibility for their children until their own dying breath.

Forever. Once you have a child and watch them grow up and become adults and have there own family you will allways feel a responsibility to them. That is a part of life.

By Law usually until they are 21 years old or emancipated! My children act like I'm responsible for them and their bills. It drives me crazy. I do have a life and bills myself. It all depends on how much you will let your children depend on you.
