Rubbing Alcohol $1.00, my vet told me that's what to use to clean my dogs ears with. Just pour some into the ear, be careful not to get in his eyes.Massage the base of the ear, watch your eyes when you stop the dog will shake it's head.
I just cleaned my dogs ears today, they roll around like they just had a bath. I use the wintergreen scented alcohol they smell so minty fresh afterwards. I take a wet wipe and clean the rest of their ear.
Do not use hydrogen peroxide, it can cause inflammation of the ear canal.

It takes AT LEAST TWO PEOPLE to clean a dog's ears, and if you have a LARGE dog, it could take up to four people to 'help' you do this. If it's a 'small' dog (one you can comfortably hold in your arms while standing) you can put him into a pillowcase and use a ribbon to 'tie it' around his neck. Then use a towel to 'wrap it tighter' and have the other person hold him while you put the drops into his ears and hold his head so he can't shake them out. If it's a larger dog, you may need to use a blanket to hold him (you don't want to get 'scratched' by his claws) with one person on each side, up to two people on each side. If you have a 'bag' large enough to hold him (NOT a 'plastic bag') and tie around him, that's even better because he can't 'walk' and should be more still ... or you can try just waiting until he's sleeping and put the drops into the ear that is 'up' ... then when he turns over, put them into his other ear. GOOD LUCK.

Take a cotton ball and soak it in Witch Hazel, then rub inside his ears. It was the only way my dog allowed me to do it, it doesn't burn them, and the vet recommended it.

i would not use ear drops for dogs ears.It isn't comfortable for them
get a cotton ball or a cutip and some hydrium peroxide($8.00 or less) and just like rub it
ur dog usually will like the feeling
my dog loves it.

I used to use a cotton ball and use olive oil. Dogs also like to eat it and its healthy. Pour some olive oil in a dixie cup and when your done using the cotton ball let him lick the olive oil in the cup. I read about the olive oil technique in a dog book.

If your dog won't let you do it try a vet who knows how to handle the dog and hold him so no one gets hurt (including the pup!) : )!
Good Luck!

If he won't sit still your vet can recommend a safe tranquilizer to settle him down long enough to get it done.
