Blackheads form when oil is trapped in pores & oxidize. You cannot eliminate blackheads forever but you can take steps to keep your pores clear and clean out clogged pores.

There are several ways to get rid of blackheads. Choose the
method that you have the time & patience for because persistence is key.

1) Use Neutrogena Clear Pore Wash/Mask. It has clay and benzoyl peroxide to absorb excess oil, clear away old skin cells and kill bacteria. It works best as a mask - just apply where needed once or twice a week.

2) After washing your face, apply a warm compress & use a blackhead remover to gently ease it out. The key is to be gentle because you do not want to stretch out your pores.

3) After washing your face at night, dampen a cotton pad w/ hydrogen peroxide & swipe it over your nose. Hydrogen peroxide will bleach the blackheads & kill the bacteria that cause them.

If you have sensitive skin, leave the hydrogen peroxide on for 5 minutes & rinse it off.

4) Aspirin mask: Crush 4 - 6 plain, uncoated aspirin tablets and mix it w/ a little water to make mask. Or mix them with Queen Helene Mint Julep mask or aloe vera gel instead of water. Apply a thin layer where needed & let dry for 15-20 minutes. Rinse off w/ cool water.

5) For blackheads on the nose, use Biore pore strips or make your own. Here's how: http://www.bathandbodyrecipes.com/tip.php?tipid=425

Hi!
I looked for over 8 years for a product against blackheads.
Clarins has an awesome line, for night time you need the toner and oil, its a special oil that dissolves blackheads (for real) and cleans your face overnight of impurities. Black heads are basically a hardened oil mixture that was secreted and oxidized (which makes the outside part black) and since water and oil don't mix no water based product can "clean" your blackheads away, just try say putting certain foundations or makeups on the mirror and if you wipe it with water it smudges all over but put a little baby oil and wipe and tada! it comes off super clean AND dissolves it. This oil also dries up the pimples and the black heads all the way down. I recommend using it for 6-8 weeks then going for a facial (cost maybe 25$) and ask for a facial specializing in black head removal or you can look it up online, how to steam first and all and yes using a tissue paper not your fingernails really is better, I know cause now I have little brown spots and acne scars from years of picking with nails, tissue forms a little barrier so that the sharp edge of your nails doesn't cut the thin outer cell layer.

You can find it cheaper on eBay as it is a bit pricey in stores. Here is the name: Oil: CLARINS Lotus Face Treatment Oil Combo SKIN 1.4oz/40ml will last forever , you put toner on your face first, when your face is still moist you put 4 drops of oil (one on each finger, you only need a teeny bit) then rub your finger tips together on other hand and after a few secs of rubbing use your finger tips to dab it on top of your moist skin... just be careful not to put more than 4-6 small drops of oil and that your face is wet from toner and to dab it over not rub. Toner: NEW Clarins Toning Lotion with Iris OILY Skin Toner 200mL.

The body shop also has an awesome mattifying moisturizing tea oil face gel.

Take care, Felisia

Good luck with the whole, forever thing..lol but use something like Oxy face cleansing pads every day on the affected area. This brand focuses on blackheads.
Make sure and wash your face with a cleanser every morning (or after a physical activity when you sweat). This helps prevent more from comming.
Good luck.

For years and years I had blackheads on my nose.

When I asked my mother, she gave me some Oxy10, which never really worked for me.

Later, I got married to someone who knows about these things and was happy to show me what I was doing wrong.

First, I used to wash my face with soap and water. This is good, but... the Dove soap I was using. VERY bad for your face, makes your acne much worse.

Second, I was JUST using soap and water and applying it with my hands. This is also bad, you NEED to use a wash cloth to clean out your pores.

Third, washing your face once isn't enough when you have very oily skin. Wash, rinse, repeat. Maybe 2-3 times.

Fourth, there are some great facial cleansers out there, but if you had all brothers like me and a mother who was not particularly helpful in these areas, you probably don't know about most of them.

I REALLY like Clean and Clear's Morning Burst facial cleanser for getting the oil and dirt out.

Then you need something that exfoliates. I like the Dove Gentle exfoliating Daily Facial Cleanser (not related to the Dove moisturizing body soap that exacerbated much of the acne problems of my youth, in their defense, many of the Dove line of products are great. I love their new shampoos).

Finally, you need an astringent. These products are all pretty much the same, honestly. So get one of the cheap ones. Suave Refreshing Facial Astringent is the one I get.

If you are a guy, and aren't used to all this stuff, it may seem a bit effeminate, and I am not saying it is a good idea to pull all this stuff out and start using it in gym class, but, if you want clear skin, these are the products I would recommend.

As for the Oxy 10... you can use that, too, but it will be much more effective if you do all these other steps, first.

Wash, exfoliate, astringent, medicate.

PS. If you figure out what works for you, pass it on to your children some day, as what works for you will most likely work for them and we will have fewer zitty kids in the world.

Cleanse your face with unboiled milk, gently rub a coarse cloth dipped in milk to remove the blackheads. Steam your face with herbs like lavender, lemon peel and mint leaves added to the water and let the skin soak up its goodness. What I do isuse the strips so the blackheads are long previous and sparkling, after which i exploit a deep purifier to maintain the dirt out of my face because of the fact what blackheads rather are is grimy, clogged pores. you would be able to additionally bypass to a dermatologist (your scientific well being insurance will in all possibility disguise it) and notice what they ought to declare. they might in all possibility propose an surprising variety or scientific look after your face! :)

Right now my skin is perfectly clear, for the first time in 3 years. It's been about 9 weeks and all my acne is gone. It is such a great feeling to wake up with clear skin.

The only way to do that is to rip your face off.

You can make them go away for a while, but never forever. It's mostly hormones, probably beyond your control. Washing your face helps, but it's not like there's a magic cure or anything.
