It depends on how much you have to lose and your body fat to weight ratio. Reducing calories works very well until you get to the place where further reduction in calories will do more harm than good. You have to keep up a maintenance diet at a minimum. It is also a good idea to find the kinds of foods you can enjoy eating or you may suffer from discouragement if you don't see the progress you hoped for. The best way to take off weight is through a gradual process. Allow your body to adjust to the changes in your diet. Initially you may see a dramatic weight loss but after a while the weight comes off much slower and you will get to that place where diet only will no longer help you reduce sensibly. Starvation is not the way to go. At some point excercise becomes necessary. That doesn't mean you have to jog 50 miles a week, but you will have to sweat. There are many experts who want you to follow their regimen. Don't eat too much red meat, eat lots of vegetables and watch the fatty stuff. I found eating chicken without the skin and fat plus a good variety of wholesome vegetables works best for me. Some excercise is beneficial but you don't have to kill yourself excercising. Find what works for you. You know eating too much doesn't work. Most important is giving your body the time to adjust to the changes. It will work with you if you take your time. There is psychology involved. Reduce your intake at first. Try to avoid 'quitting' the things you like. Reduce the intake first. Make an effort to learn to be happy with what you are doing. Don't plan on losing it all at once. When you find out you can control what you eat you will be much happier with dieting. A happy diet is the most effective one. It is as much learning how to control your eating habits as it is the foods you eat...unless all you eat is cream puffs...but that is a different issue. The flabby question is a matter of toning. It is a bit different issue. Sorry. It takes excercise to tighten those muscles. You should consult with your personal physician to let him/her know what you plan to do or find someone who has experience with this sort of thing. Maybe they can give you some encouragement. It is not impossible to diet and be happy. Good luck.

Yes, there is something called the basal Metabolic rate, the amount of calories you need to just survive. It is around 1200 or so on average, as I recall. Just eat less than that, and you can loose weight. This is not a good way to do it, though. Just add some walking and you can also loose weight. Stay away from sweets, fats and fast food, and eat fruit, veggies and drink 64 oz. of water a day. Good Luck!

You can definetly lose weight by lowering you caloric intake but you have to be very careful about what you eat. This may sound crazy but cutting back portions of food and constantly snacking on small portions of vegetables and nuts can really help keep your metabolizm going and shedding extra pounds but there is no substitute for exercise, that's the true balanced weight loss program.

Like every person else has reported - particular! you may drop some pounds via limiting. there's a nutrients regimen it extremely is utilized via scientific experts for obese sufferers. it extremely is declared as the VLCD (very low calorie nutrients regimen). extremely it restricts you to 900 energy an afternoon and the outcomes are speedy weight help. I unquestionably have for my area achieved this (after the two my babies) and it has worked splendidly - with little or no workout. 900 energy would not appear as if plenty, yet once you contain low calorie meals besides as uncooked meals (clean vegetables) you finally end up unquestionably ingesting plenty.

1. Stop the callories/ carbs (not a complete fast or you'll starve).
2. No more beer, wine, soda. Try to keep it to water and healthy juice.
3. Exercise 2-3 times a week.

Yes!
Smaller portions.
Don't go back for seconds.
Limit your soda and sugar intake.
It's ok to have soda or sugar products like cookies and cake every once in awhile as a treat but not everyday.
Substitute those unhealthy afternoon snacks like chips and candy for veggies and dip or a sandwich with moderate amounts of condiments.
I stopped drinking soda every day and I now only drink it once a week and I have lost about 12 lbs so far...I stopped drinking it everyday about 3 months ago.
Also I stopped eating healthier by substituting my unhealthy snacks with fruits and veggies and I've also lost weight.

You can. Weight watchers is a good example. If you are only a few pounds over ( say under 30) you will not be flabby unless you already are.

well, it kind of will, so like the others in this section said, make sure you exercise, if you don't like working with weights, try cardiovascular activities such as running, swimming (if you don't like feeling sweat run down your body), palates, or yoga (feels great and keeps your muscles from getting too bulky and really sore). I'm not a pro, but that's what I do and it has helped a lot!

yes you can, but you would have to lower it alot. Alot of people actually lose weight without exercise. You just have to search on the internet to find a site that can tell you how many calories you need at your desired weight.
