so we are in the chicago area. well it was about 45 degrees out today. our gym uniforms are thin, itchy tops and shorts. we could not wear any jackets or pants. we had to go out and play soccer for 40 minutes in that horrible weather. i was so cold that i didn't even want to play. is this wrong of the teacher? we are going to go out every day till the end of november!

Man I hated P.E so I went to my doctor and said that I have extremely harsh and long periods and it was affecting my grade in P.E and I asked her if she could write me a note exempting me from it and it worked. I got to take another elective instead. Try it.

Speak to your parents and see if they will write a notre requesting that you be allowed to wear a guernsey/ jersey over your shirt and maybe track pants instead of shorts.

Soccer and other team sports are often played in miserable weather, that's one of the things about winter sports!

And it IS miserable, but it's actually quite good for you.

It gets your metabolism up so you can digest food faster and your body works in a better, healthier way.

It also does a lot to stop the onset of the 'winter blues'.

And it's something you and your friends can talk about together ~ think of it as the year you survived the great winter of '07. In years to come you'll look back on it and laugh as you remember your blue knees, horrid teacher and weird hair.

Just make sure yyou have a nice hot shower and something warm to wear after the game, and have some fun! There's nothing like kicking a football full of mud into someone's hair or scoring an impossible goal despite your chattering teeth.

Take care :-)

wow, same situation im in!

in fact im coming from Little Rock Arkansas to Chicago on October the 18! lol.

Back to your question, if your around in the middle school area... you probably have some people that just stand around and do nothing. I think your gym teacher was trying to fix that problem by making you go outside... When you play soccer, you have to run and kick a lot, which means you have a lot of physical activity, therefore the more you run, the warmer you get.

atleast thats what our gym teacher does...

if you have pockets in these uniforms, i would suggest the pocket things that you open from the bag, and rub, and the pouche heats up...you don't need your hands unless your the goalie in soccer, so you can keep your hands warm in your pockets!

hope things turn out well

Don't be such a wuss. If Supermodels can deal with posing in the icey cold water in the winter, then you can handle playing soccer in the cold weather.

Are others in your group complaining about how cold it is or are they just going out there and giving it there all?

I don't understand why you couldn't wear jogging pants if they are the same color as the shorts or you could wear the jogging pants and put the shorts over top of them -- that way it is evident that you are wearing the shorts -- you could do the same thing with the shirt. Where a t-shirt underneath so it doesn't touch your skin. no more itchy and you'll be warmer.

if that doesn't help, then man up!

I would get several classmates who feel the same way together and ask if you all can at least wear a solid colored sweatshirt or track/warm-up pants over your uniforms. Most gym teachers are pretty reasonable if you all explain yourselves. Make sure that if your teacher does allow it that you participate. If the teacher does not comply, get a doctor's note saying you need warm clothing in order to participate in chilly outdoor activities.

Is the gym class mandatory? If you are playing varsity football then you need to suck it up but if it is a required class, then no, you are not required to do that. Unfortunately, many gym teachers are not the most educated and enlightened individuals. I mean there is a reason they are teaching your gym class instead of having a real job so remember that. Nonetheless, you are not oblgiated to physically suffer. Have your parents call the school and if they persist a note from an attorney will cause them to change their policy really fast.

Yes it is wrong. It is too cold out for that. See what you parents think. They could put a stop to it.

Have your parents or guardian talk to him or her, I think is wrong and could cause you all to become quite sick. ♥
