No, you're simply in the trial and error stages of playing lead guitar. It will come through practice, study, and perseverance.

Consider working on your rhythm while doing a solo. At times, a lead guitarist can get out of tempo with the rest of the band and not realize it.

Just keep playing the best you can do and the expertise will gradually grow.

.No, maybe your too nervous to play by your self....a lot of people play better with a group or another player....it could also mean that you don't have enough confidence to play by yourself.....that takes time...have you been playing long.....some people never do get over their nerves when playing alone and feel better with others....maybe you'll get over this eventually...I wish you would have said how long you've been playing. And no it does not make you a bad guitarist....just a guitarist that lacks confidence when playing solo....but like I said maybe later you'll gain that confidence....I know, I'm not crazy about playing solo....especially complicated Bach pieces....I could know the piece in my sleep but when you look out and see all those people staring at you your mind goes blank....your not alone in this....I've talked to a lot of people who want to know how to get over this.....and all I can say is time and practice doing it over and over again, try playing when you just sitting around with your family, even if their not paying attention to you....just to get use to people hearing you while your playing....but like I also said, some never get over it....well good luck to you....just keep playing maybe time and more practice will give you that confidence, and try not to stop if you make a mistake....most people wouldn't know anyway.....just keep going. Another thing don't try and play pieces that you've just learned, play something that you can just about play without thinking about it....most people make the mistake of playing a piece that they've just learned...and that's usually a disaster.... so play what you know best and have been playing for a long time. !!!!!!!!!

No. It just means you haven't practiced enough yet. A teacher will be of great help. Playing solos are tough; whether you're trying to repeat something that has already been done, or you're improvising you own. After almost 25 years of playing, I still flub solos sometimes.

Keep practicing. Good luck.
