ok, they arrested my father after my 911 call on sept 22nd . Today it's october 10th .
[ what happened ? My father came after me with a knife , tried to threaten me like the way he has been since my memory serves . I didn't go along with his abusive , violent nature . So now i am isolated from the family ]

My father and mother went to see a lawyer already . I am worried if i am late to call up a lawyer and do the "legal stuff " so called ?

I was laid back for a week . I am starting my new job tomorrow . What should i do ? By the way are lawyers free .who I can call ? Will the police department have information on lawyers and stuff ?

Unless you are suing him for civil damages you do not need a lawyer. Crimes are prosecuted by the prosecutors of district attorney's office. You do not have to pay for the lawyer. Call the prosecutors office and ask him about the case.

you can contact your local court house and ask if you can get public defender, They base it on income so you might qualify. Lawyers are not free, but alot of them will take a payment plan or ask in the case that your father pay all your court cost and attorney fees if you win the case, then he will be responsible for your cost and not you. Good luck with it. I would call the court house first. Being that you are the victim you have a good chance at getting some assistance

YOU CALLED 911 ON YOUR DAD SO THE CASE WILL BE PROSECUTED BY A PROSECUTOR AGAINST YOUR DAD. IF A MINOR UNDER 18 THE JUVENILE COURT SHOULD HANDLE THE MATTER AS WELL.

SEPT22--OCT 10TH?? WHAT ARE YOU TRYING TO ASK?

COURT MAY BE MONTHS AWAY..

GO TO YOUR JOB THEY HAVE TO GIVE YOU TIME OFF TO APPEAR IN COURT. YOU WILL GET AN ADVANCED NOTICE OF THE COURT DATE AND TIME (ABOUT A MONTH IN ADVANCE)

THE PROSECUTOR IS YOUR LAWYER WHO WILL PROSECUTE YOUR DAD FOR YOUR ALLEGATIONS--ALSO KNOWN AS A DISTRICT ATTORNEY.

You are the victim, you don't need a lawyer, but I think you need to get some counseling. your father coming after you with a knife is not cool. is alcohol involved? keep your distance.
