Why do liberals that know little or nothing about the military offer their suggestions regarding the military?

The military CAN'T enact the draft, congress has to do that, and it's political suicide for whoever brings it up. But seriously, you don't see a difference between offering people a chance at a better life, and conscripting them into service?

bringin the draft would be a political suicidal. bedside people are still traumatized by the selective draft of the vietnam era that drafted the poor and not the rich. it would be interesting if they bringed back the universal draft of world war 2. anyone and everyone would be drafted. the rich and the poor, the cool and the lame, the straight and the gay. but that's just me lol

You get a better quality of investment if you get people who WANT to fight for a defend our great nation. Enforcing the draft, will only cause lower standards. Why force someone to do something they don't want to do and get it done wrong, or pay the people willing to do it and get the job done right the first time.

Because they believe you get a much higher quality of service member when people enlist because they want too!! The education level is higher among the current recruits than they were during Viet Nam, so they get what they pay for....

I am merely a spouae of a career soldier, however, when I asked my husband this question his answer was quite simple. He would much rather trust his life to another solider who volunteered to be in the war than to one who was drafted. You get better quality when it isn't about quanity.

Because enacting the draft greatly reduces the quality of soldier. When you're drafting people, you can't be choosy. Standards would be lowered. Our soldiers are highly trained professionals. It isn't the way it was back in the 70s.

The Draft was officially overturned after Viet Nam, with the help of the ACLU. Males that have reached the age of 18 have to sign up for it anyway at their local Federal Building or Post Office. Thay may soon change to include females age 18.

For one, it would create a major uproar in the country!!! Secondly, in today's advanced technology, the military does not want some high school dropout handling its weaponry.
