That seems to go against Christ's teachings as I understand them. Any comments?

My wife's Aunt told us that they voted them out. She attends the services there and seems happy about it. For me it solidifies a little more the distance between Love others, don't judge, be tolerant and what actually is practiced in the name of Jesus.

i think people do a lot of hypocritical things in the name of religion. i believe the scriptures on homosexuality are in dueteronomy. this book is mostly societies laws at the time, not words or dictates from god. there are also laws about not eating certain meats, how women are supposed to sequester themselves during their periods, and other outdated, ignored laws of the times. for some reasons, lots of religions still cling to the "anti-homosexual" passages while ignoring the ones that don't fit their ideas of right and wrong.

Voting is not the way to handle a problem. The New Testament sets out the procedure to handle sin. It is handled by a very specific guideline, that being of going to the person, bringing it before the Church and the Elders being the ones to decide what is to be done. This procedure takes time, patience and love and It is not simple and it is not easy.

A person who is a practicing homosexual should be first warned that his behavior is sin and that he must repent and stop his sin if he wants to continue in the congregation. If his homosexual sin is allowed to continue while being part of a Christian fellowship , than the congregation has just put their stamp of approval on his homosexual sin and this church is therefore now apostate. The Baptists next door are exactly right for casting out unrepentant homosexuals. I am sure that if the castaways were to repent and quit their perverted sin that the Baptists next door would welcome them right back in.

Birdbrain below is correct about the procedure in Matt. 18. I assume that these procedures were carried out by the Baptists next door. I know Baptists to be solid Christians for the most part and therefore give them the benefit of the doubt that they did follow Matthew 18 .

Yes, that is not a Christian action. You should hate the sin and love the sinner. All this will do is inflame the passions of people on both side, and not give anyone a chance to come to Christ.

Seems harsh to me. As far as I know, there is room at the alter for everyone. Jesus sees my sins just as much as theirs. Sin is sin whether you lie or murder a person.

Sounds like something that a certain Fred Phelps would approve of even if I don't think Jesus would.....
