It sounds like a fast-food grudge match: Taco Bell is taking on the homeland of its namesake by reopening for the first time in 15 years in Mexico. Defenders of Mexican culture see the chain's re-entry as a crowning insult to a society already overrun by U.S. chains from Starbucks and Subway to KFC. "It's like bringing ice to the Arctic," complained pop-culture historian Carlos Monsiváis. The company's branding strategy — "Taco Bell is something else" — is an attempt to distance itself from any comparison to Mexico's beloved taquerias, which sell traditional corn tortillas stuffed with an endless variety of fillings, from spicy beef to corn fungus and cow eyes. Taco Bell, a unit of Louisville, Ky.,-based Yum Brands, made its name promoting its menu to Americans as something straight out of Mexico. But it's a very different dynamic south of the border. Here, the company projects a more "American" fast-food image by adding French fries — some topped with cheese, cream, ground meat and tomatoes — to the menu at its first store, which opened in late September in the northern city of Monterrey.http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/businesstechnology/2003937804_tacobell100.html

Address the real issue.
Taco Bells supplies come from America. All the food processing plants in the country are known for hiring illegals, even the comics joke about contaminating our food, all the recent recalls show it is happening.
Do you really think any Mexican will eat food from a Taco Bell when they know that they have a fairly good chance at getting Montezuma's Revenge?

Joseph and nena know why Mexicans won't eat Taco Bell.

Funny situation. I'm American and personally love Taco Bell, mostly because it's such a bargain for what you get. I know it's not authentic, but you know what to expect when ordering any fast food.

It will really be up to the Mexican people if they want to support the venture or not. If it is an insult to their culture, they're free not to eat there.

In my area, most of the Taco Bell employees are Mexican. They must not be too offended by the food if they're willing to work there.

Taco Bell isn't Mexican it's what I guess some call Tex-Mex. As
far as I'm concerned if ti's an insult to Mexicans then fine I believe people coming over here illegally using our services schools, hospitals and not paying taxes, other than sales tax is insulting to Americans, so I'll tell you what you can toss out Taco Bell and we toss out all the illegals.

I don't BLAME the Mexicans -on this one. Taco Bell is NOT Mexican food! It's made to RESEMBLE the stuff- but if you eat it -blindfolded, you find yourself asking, "What IS this stuff- Warmed over Left-Overs from last week's lunch at McDonaldS??! -Bleah!" Americans will swallow ANYTHING. -But credit Mexicans at least- for KNOWING what their Countries foods taste like. And Taco Bell- it ISN'T. :)

I think you answered your own question. Quite nicely, I might add.

Q: Taco Bells in Mexico selling to voluntary customers?
A: Get the H3LL OUT!

Q: Illegal aliens having 40M anchor babies on our dime.
A: RACIST! They're just coming for a better life. Hmmm...

Can anyone see the hypocrisy? Could the eye of a cow resting on spicy beef dolloped over a "traditional corn" tortilla see it?

A's: Yes. and Yes.

...

Just what the heck is "traditional corn", exactly?

Wait - I thought they'd be infectiously happy with a piece of Americana in their own country?

Aren't they literally dying to get (illegaly) across the border in thousands every day just to be there?

Maybe if Taco Bell started to use dog and cat and every part of the cow and chicken Mexicans would like it since it would be more "authentic:.
