since you are your own god and your own follower, why do you insist that you are right and Catholics are wrong just because you are holding a Bible in your hands?

now why did I say that you are your own god? because you follow your own opinion about what the Bible says. and about your being your own follower, you are the only one who wants to follow your own beliefs. don't insist your beliefs on us Catholics, because we have our own.

There is no such thing as non-denominational.

2007-10-10 11:50:55 · answer #1 · answered by SpiritRoaming 7 · 3 1

Non denominational churches are as much denominations as any other Protestant denomination.
These non denominational denominations usually are some sort of Protestant grouping either out of a particular Protestant tradition or subgroup or some new combo of some subgroups' teachings or some new interpretation of and 'discovery' of something in the Bible.

Most of the nondenominational denominations i know are Fundamental Baptist types or Pentecostal types. However, there is nothing stopping anyone's picking up a Bible to make himself his own pope and ,magisterium or even revelator and director of all the divine dealings with his congregation or even claim to do so for all humanity.

Every denomination believes in the bible in their own unique way. That is why there are so many denominations out there. Non denominational Christians believe that no one has it all right, so why try to prescribe to a group of peoples opinion. Just let the Holy Spirit and God’s love guide you the best it can. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

What you believe what the bible says that is false every one has to interpret the bible with their human limitation (human in not perfect only God is perfect). Sorry, Pope when talks on the magisterial are word inspiring word that comes Holy Spirit. Plus, He is clarifying teachings. In our times, Catholic don’t teach their individual own doctrine or own interpretations and inviting Christianity but teaching that come from the word of Jesus Christ our founder. See only way is to the Apostle (pass their authority to priest, bishops, and Pope) is to receive son and who receives the son also receives the father who is in heaven.

Well you know, the whole point of being a Christian is to know the Scriptures so we can test ourselves on it. If we blindly believe what a denomination states as fact, where does that get us? The fact of the matter is, I do not believe there's even ONE denomination out there that has it 100% correct. At least, so far I haven't found one. And I've attended MANY different denominational churches.

My God is your God. As far as I'm concerned, you're my brother. It doesn't matter to me one bit if a person is a Catholic or Protestant. What matters is if they've accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, as I have.

Don't assume.

OK...we are not our own God and we do not insist we are right. My God is the one in Heaven who loves me and created me. I don't think Catholics are wrong. I just don't personally agree with a lot of things such as, telling the priest your sins and him asking God for forgiveness. I believe that if you want forgiveness...you can go to God yourself. In God's eyes we're all the same..the Priest is no better than me or you. God dosen't favor the Priest, Pope, or whoever, over you or me. If you want to be saved that is between you and God...not you, God, and The Pope.
Secondly I do not agree that you go to Pergatury. I believe you just go to Heaven or Hell.
Thirdly, I have been to a Catholic church many times with my step-dad. And I honestly can not believe that the Priest actually tells the people who cannot afford to offer more tidings to sit in the back because the front rows are reserved for the people who give more. God loves you the same whether you give $2.00 or $2000.
The same goes for Baptist (which is the religion I use to be) They believe you can curse and do this and that then that night ask for fogiveness...It is like taking advantage of God's kindness.
And then it's the penticostals....I don't think God is going to send you to hell for watching T.V...nor is he going to send women to hell for not wearing skirts and tying there hair on a knot on top of their head, nor for cutting their hair.

There are a lot of right to these religions though...I am not bashing them in anyway.

This is the reason I am non-denominational. I am 15 years old and I have decided that I will read the Bible and I will do what I think is right based on what I believe. If it is wrong God will let me know by the guilt I feel in my heart and I will learn the difference between right and wrong that way. I refuse to let a Preacher or a Priest, or a Pope tell me what I should and shouldn't do. I will read the bible and make that decision for myself...if in the the slightest bit I feel guilty and I feel I am commiting a sin I will stop that instant and never do it again.

I hope I answered your question for you.

Good day and God Bless!

Uh... a non-denominational Christain doesn't just follow whatever they believe God meant "for you" in the Bible. Not all of us, at least. It just means we don't create or follow traditions that are add-ons by men. I go to a Bible-preaching church, and we don't subscribe to any particular denomination. We used to, until our pastor realized we weren't really Baptists any more. Our teachers teach (very slowly and thouroughly, I might add) the Bible, and ONLY the Bible. That's what it's all about for us here at Grace Bible Church!

If you really think about it, there shouln't by ANY denominations, just one church. One huge, unified, and well-managed church. It's the parts of the Bible where we disagree that divides us all up. :(

put others down much? that junk about 'you are your own God' is typical of someone who can't find a way to build themself up without tearing someone else down...sad

nothing Christ taught was complicated..He spoke plainly, because His message was for all the people to understand and follow-it doesn't take armies of 'theologians' and councils of man-appointed 'experts' to figure it out, even little children understand Him.

i am a member of a southern baptist church...do i consider myself a 'baptist?' only in that i worship at a baptist church...i do consider myself a Christian first...and i don't feel that people who attend other churches AREN'T Christians-that would be pretty arrogant, in my opinion. so why do i identify myself first and foremost as a Christian? because a Christian is a follower of Christ-the denomination doesn't matter, because no church can provide salvation-NONE. only Christ can...also because how you 'label' yourself says a lot about your priorities and your 'allegiance'...you can follow a denomination and its dogma, or you can follow Christ, but whenever you try to fully follow both, you'll find that you're cheating one, the other, or both....and like the song says, 'i have decided to follow Jesus'

The only way to the father is through the son, not the pope, not mary, not in a confessional booth. I attended a non-denominational church for about a year. And to be perfectly honest, I never heard anybody ever even mention the catholics.

Hmmm....Non-denominational Christians are their own God as you put. Im not to sure about that one. Thats news to me. And we never said you were wrong in all your beliefs, I think you just assumed that. Just like you assumed we were our own God and our own follower.

I'm not my own god, but I am a child of god because he thought of me before my own parents did. I'm not my own follower, but I do follow Jesus (not mary), because he is the one that came so that we may have life. It ain't all about mary. It ain't about ritualistic religion, it ain't about idolotry. But it is about Jesus and relationship with him. TD Jakes has a good saying that Jesus didn't come so that we may have church, he came so that we may have life, and life abundantly. We're not right but we do hold the truth in our hands, and if one isn't willing to accept that, it's their choice and if their spirit convicts them, then that's on them. Get away from "religion", and come on over to a relationship. Blessings!
Amen coco!
