I feel like, in general, those who write on the internet, are those who have bad experiences.
So every time I read about problems that I have or that my family has, I get all freaked out - and I think almost unesscesarily so.
You?

Oh yeah, I know exactly what you mean, especially when it comes to things like mental illness (I have suffered from depression before, thats why I've looked it up). You start to think, "well, maybe I've got this illness instead" or "I think I've got this disease". It can get ridiculous!

But think about it from this perspective, the people who are worst affected by a certain problem/disorder/illness are more likely to write about it, because it affects them most. But someone who only suffers mildly is very unlikely to discuss their issue on the internet, cos it doesn't bother them as much. So you'll only get the bad accounts of any particular problem.

But it freaks me out too. The internet is quite dangerous with respects to information about health and illness. Best bet is to stick with your doctor I reckon!

Hope to have helped :D

Generally speaking, if I want to find out information about health on the Internet, I seek it from a reputable source.

I guess that would depend on the source one is reading from. I have received some very good information on health issues on the internet--and from books. Of course, they are no substitute for a medical professional...BUT how many times have THEY been wrong? (Many, in my experiences).

no I do not as the reason I do not is , KNOWLEDGE is POWER and the more you have the better off you are, it when you start to see things as one sided and or cant see the otherside of things then you will have a problem.
as in look at all angles. hope this helps but most of the problems we have in society is lack of knowledge so make yourself knowledgable and then go from there.
