Im a 26 year old professional Mother. I left my career and I am in school full time. I thought I would like waitressing and the money is great to keep the bills paid (over $500 wk) but I HATE it. I need to find a job ... OBVIOUSLY I will have my son in the best hands. My Mother will help somebody watch him... I just need to figure out a good career that I can make good money and work after 10:20 am and 12:20 am after I get out of school. I was thinking about the YMCA because my son could ride the bus there from school and then we could ride home together. Anybody have any other ideas?
PS - if I wasnt a mother... and I wasn't already concerned with childcare...I wouldn't be posting this message. I need a job that works with my schedule but makes great money.

Be careful with telling potential employer's about your schedules as most will not likely accommodate you and perceive you as a potential headache. Seen it happen to many times

Teacher .. canteen assistant etc.

PS - big money is (usually) made by people who go out of their way to accommodate the Employer, not the other way around ..

Why ? ... because there are millions of mum's looking for part time work and not many suitable jobs (supply & demand)

PS = I always thought YMCA was staffed by religious volunteers .. and for sure never considered it a 'great money' or 'career opportunity'

Wow, the other response was something else. Well I won't tell you to do anything like that but i will recommend what I do. And I work for AmeriplanUSA. I help people get affordable health and dental coverage. I also help people like you find a job that works for their life and schedule. It's a good honest job. To start out with you won't make 1,000s but you will make a couple hundred a month. Now although it doesn't sound like much each person you sign up gives you money each month and every month after that so it builds up pretty quick. And it's forever yours. Once you have a good income coming in every month you can sit back and that same income will keep coming in month after month after month. And on top of that you can hand that income down to your kids so that when you go they'll have income for their lives too. That's why I started and I'll never look back.

The YMCA is a great and rewarding place to work. Most Y's are very family oriented and willing to work around schedules. However, the Y is non-profit and if you're looking to make "great" money, it's not the place for you.
