No you can't take it. Why are you asking on here instead of calling a doctor?!? You can use calamine lotion, that stuff is safe and it works. Good Luck!

Don't take any medications that weren't prescribed for you. And don't take anything when pregnant unless you have express permission from your doctor. Prednisone is a steroid so I would think it could harm the baby. Why don't you go to an urgent care facility or even the emergency room and see what they can do for you? I'm sorry you have poison ivy and I hope it clears up soon.

Actually I asked my doc same today, because I had the same problem and used prednisone in early pregnancy. She said there can be risks with long term use, but prednisone has been used to clear up bad cases of ivy in pregnant women before (and for other health reasons). They prescribe if it is on face, naughty bits (!!), or over 30% of your body. Risk vs. benefit. Late term it can cause complications. And sheesh, some of these people (omg, taking someone else's prescription! Hey, Sandra Dee, it's her husbands, same poison ivy case! I don't think we should be so judgemental on this site! Someone on this sight asked me if I was trying to abort my baby (!) by taking a legally prescribed medicine! Watch out for the goodie-goodies, and use your best judgement.

they'll paintings it out. i understand of a gal who had twins who took low dose prednisone (5 mg) over her total being pregnant (allergies). there are particular issues they seem for and in lots of circumstances, the alternative is way less secure. With this steroid, it extremely is an argument of ways plenty it extremely is at difficulty.

I can't imagine that it would be safe. I work at a vet clinic, and whenever we send a mediation home that contains steriods, we make sure no one in the house is pregnant, and if they are, they are not allowed to give the medication. Call your doctor, and tell them your situation. They might be able to give you something else to help with the itching. Good Luck!

When I took prednisone (I wasn't pregnant), I became depressed as a side effect. I hate that stuff. But, I am not too sure you can or not.
