No.

Computers filled whole rooms and weren't even as capable as desktops today. The idea that people could have computers in every home didn't even surface for more than a decade after that. And longer still before it was a reality.

No. The first personal computer was called the Altair 8800 and it was created around the end of 1974. It sold for approx $400 and had to be assembled by the user. It had no keyboard, mouse, or monitor and was programmed using switches.

I graduated in 1975 and i got to use a hand held calculator. Dad hate them but they were the coming of the future. He always said use the brain with a pencil and paper it will always work for you use it. Now I've heard that around that time they did have them but they were so big it took a warehouse to keep one in and they put off so much heat they almost would burn up. The disk that went in them was as big as a record one of those big ones 33. Now I have heard that some PC were around as far back as the late 40' but in your real big places. But the common man could not afford one nor did they have the space for it. Heck mom stayed home and the men went to work. Sort of a beaver time.

We didn't have hand-held calculators that could add, subtract multiply and divide until the early 70's and they cost about $100 a piece...I worked in a computer lab in 1974 and a small computer weighed a couple tons.
