Depends to some extent othe sizes involved,Problem is Aluminium alloys conduct the heat so quickly from the weld area that it's very difficult to get fusion.It's best to use argon arc (or if in USA,heliarc)equipment.If you are dealing with sheet metal, and you dont need a leakproof joint,Spotwelding
does the trick.

do not use propane and oxygen. Use a TIG welder, aluminum rod, argon and another gas I don't remember.

Friction stir welding or MIG will also do.
