I only ask because I can't blindly accept certain things. I suppose I am trying to find some answers to the things that stop me believing.
Rather than being afraid of a genuine question, Christians should be pleased to help people with these matters. So far the insults are only succeeding in pushing me away from Christianity.

Questions about 6 day creation, dinosoars, Noah's Ark, age of the earth/carbon dating.
Mostly things I have read in the OT.
I have been asking these questions for a while now, both in person and on Blogs etc. I don't get insulted in person, but these blogs seem quite hostile sometimes. I will try to adjust my tone when asking.
I have read some of the bible, I am getting through it slowly but surely. I am a Graphic designer and do quite a lot of work for Christian organisations, Catholic, Anglican, Brethren etc and get some info from the material work on. But the differing views from these people are confusing.
My main question would be who to believe. I find all the the division one of the hardest parts to understand.

I apologize if some have disrespected you. I assure you many in here have been conditioned to expect insincere questions and inflamatory commentary so much that when a sincere asker raises a question we are shocked. In some cases I simply don't have all the answers. This isn't problematic for me. The other side despite it's attempts to cloak itself in scientific rhetoric doesn't either. Regards. Edit: One of my contacts Scalia Alito has quite a broad knowledge on many given topics. He is often quite busy but when not is quite helpful and pleasant to deal with. IHe has a best answer rating somewhere near 50%. He may or may not be able to answer your question however he will most likely be able give you something to consider. You are correct in suggesting there is a variety of opinions on these interesting topics. This does give evidence against the charge that Christians simply believe what they are told without question and that they excercise free will in exploring and believing different interpretations. I try and stay open and don't force one particular view but would rather people came to their own conclusions. I would like to point out that this isn't really much different from the atheist view point. Any one who studies in depth te history of science and evolution in particular will begin to see that there is quite a wide variety of views on these topics and that they at times have have been quite hostile towards each other. There is also quite a history of frauds that were used as proof and in some cases still are used. The atheist argument falls back on the point that science is self correcting. So this kind of deflects ever having to admit they have been wrong while simultaneously maintaining they are presently correct.

I agree with you, and wanting answers to things is a sign of someone interested. Being a Christian will require a certain amount of faith, but most of the questions you have probably can be answered satisfactorily if you find the right person to ask. A lot of Christians don't go deep enough into the Bible to really know what's in there, so find a good one and latch on tight, and ask away!

I have found that many in these forums are just out to insult and defame you for no other reason then they think it is funny or fun.
These are not real Christian, for the most part these are just kids who like to see what kind of rise they can get.
I have seen many true Christian in these sights give thoughtful and respectful answers to thoughtful and respectful questions.
But no matter what you do you will invite ridicule from the small minded children who frequent the site looking to provoke. Ignore them and focus on those who are actually trying to help.
God Bless

Depends on how you ask the questions. Which are they ?
Explain.
I am waiting for you to ask your questions here.
Perhaps somebody can answer them, or at least give you an advice.
I do not recommend reading the Bible without any explanation. That person that made prayers eliminated from schools did that. She read the Bible by herself and declared that she was atheist.
To read the Bible you need the help of a priest. If you do it alone you may get the wrong idea, or, in the best case scenario, get confused

It seems to me that you are going to the wrong people. If they are true understanding Christians, than they would not do that. Honestly alot of those that are Christian, grew up that way and always believed the way that they do. It's hard for them to answer questions because they done understand how you could think any other way. My suggestion is that you go and talk to the people that usually do the classes for baptismals. They are asked many questions that they have had to asnwer and they would have more answers than most! I please ask you not to judge all Christians for the few inconsiderate ones out there! Good luck

It is probably the tone used when asking. It is extremely easy to insult and/or upset someone when discussing religion, politics or family.
You see it here all the time. "Why did I get a wise azz answer to this question"why do libtards always....?' " You have insulted your audiance by the third word and lost almost any hope of getting a straight answer.
Are you asking a sincere question or are you making a derisive statement, put in the form of a question? Most people here do seem to be making a snide comment in the form of a question and this makes answers assume the worst pretty quickly.

I think its good that you ask questions and just don't accept something because someone said so.
If one is truly seeking and the questions are not bashing then I have no answer to as why some Christians would insult you.
but this is what I know.
Jesus is the answer when all else fails and crumbles around you Jesus will never leave or forsake you. Jesus is there to lift you up and give you life more abundantly not to destroy you or your life.

I don't know what kind of Christians insult you for asking questions. I can see why you'd be frustrated with those kind of responses. What I'd suggest is that you find some better educated Christians who can actually answer your questions for you. I'd be willing to bet that you'd get a decent answer for most questions here on Yahoo Answers, so go ahead and post some of these issues you're trying to figure out.

Don't lump everybody who says they are Christians into the Christianity category. These people who are afraid of questions don't know the answer. And they don't want to seem like they don't know, so they get defensive, and sometimes insulting. But, there are a lot of Christians who can provide the right answers, or are comfortable enough in their faith to say, "I don't know, but if you are very serious about your question, I will find the answer". Those are practicing Christians.

You are right in your feelings.
Most Christians have blindly chosen to believe things in the Bible and are afraid to investigate what they believe because they have been led to believe a questioning mind is the mind of an infidel.
Sorry, , , ,
Follow your own feelings about what it is you believe and how you choose to believe it. Most Christians don't know that the bible has been interpreted by various strong leaders throughout history to politicize and control the masses. King James, for an example. The book of Mormon.
