The term Jihad used without any qualifiers is generally understood to be referring to war on behalf of Islam.

Yes, unfortunately.... I have to support the founding fathers' wishes... their wisdom was far greater than mine.

That being said, I would encourage every (true) American to utilize their rights as well and speak out against jihad, call their local and national media centers, and get the word out that we're not going to take it and that we're going to make life extremely miserable for the bastards if they so much as hint at anything remotely resembling a terrorist plan or action.

I remember the day when political correctness was not even a concept. People were made to be ashamed of things if they did not conform to some basic and reasonable societal morés. Those days are gone, unfortunately. We need to bring them back. When some punk walks by me with his jeans around his thighs and nothing but his skivs covering his butt, he needs to be bittch slapped. When someone drives by with his subwoofer making your windows rattle, he needs his wiring to be rearranged... permanently. I can go on, but I think you get the idea.

It depends on what the "Jihad" is. Jihads are not necessarily holy wars, but a "war" against anything that Muslims believe is getting in the way of Allah. A campaign against homelessness could, for example, be a Jihad.

However, if it's a nationalistic "Jihad" encouraging the overthrow of the US government or some other organized violence, then no. That goes beyond "free speech" and into threats to the public safety.

That's a good question. I suppose it depends on what you mean by jihad. If it's simply "holy war against infidels" then I think it's protected under the 1st amendment.

However, if they're actively trying to overthrow the U.S. government as part of a campaign to cleanse America, then I think the Mosques might be stepping into treasonous territory.

As far as I know, the latter hasn't happened.

From a religious point of view, I have no say. Jihad is not always about killing. But the US Government might find a legal problem with it if it involves harming people or taking over the government.

We do indeed allow for the freedoms of speech and religion; however, we must draw the line when any group encourages violent acts upon others. You may recall the KKK, they were/are a white supremacist group who encourages attacking non-whites and non-Christians, that is not legal.
If such groups were allowed to preach or encourage violence then other groups would become oppressed and that cannot be allowed. Once you begin to endanger the lives of others you are no longer alloted the freedoms of speech or religion.

Precisely and exactly why the KKK and the Aryan/Nazi organizations are allowed to exist. This is America. I don't like the folk who preach hate, regardless of the hate they peddle, whether it is a witch-hunting Christian, a Crusader-hunting Moslem, or a mud-race hunting Nazi, or a scapegoat-hunting politician. But I will defend to the death their right to peddle their hate, else I would be less than an American. They may be worthy of my contempt, but they are still people, and still have a right to pursue happiness in their own way.

If we're talking about the personal form of jihad (a struggle within the person himself or herself, sort of a battle of conscience,) then most assuredly.

If it's the pop culture definition, no. I wonder how many people know the actual definition of the term?

Yes, jihad is compulsory for every Muslim and it means to fight for your rligion (islam) if somebody is making troubles for u to act on your religion (islam) so you have to do jihad against him for Allah. Nobody has any right to do ammenments in Islam that dont teach jihad to people.

This goes beyond free speech and freedom of religion. If they are preaching the overthrow of a legally recognized government, ours or another, that is illegal.
