He could have come right after the Garden of Eden episode and then Adam and Eve and their children could've been baptised right away! If He had to die in order to save us, Cain could've taken Judas's place; after all, he already had a propensity towards murder (Jesus could've saved Abel by taking his place!) Why in the name of Sam Hill would God choose to wait thousands of years to send the Savior? Instead, millions of non-Jews died without ever having a chance to hear of Jesus and get baptised because He hadn't come yet! Presumably, all those people went to Hell, or else Christ's sacrifice wasn't neccessary!

Please, no more harsh critiques against our friend here. That is a good question.

Before Christ, those who feared the Lord were able to be saved through belief. (Genesis 15:6). Israel was God's chosen people to bring Him glory, He would not condemn them because they did not know of salvation by grace which did not occur till hundreds of years later!
Through faith and later by following the Mosaic Law, Hebrew people and Gentile men and women who worshiped the True God were able to be cleansed of sin.

But why did God wait so long to establish salvation by grace? To give them a chance? Maybe. The Israel community was constantly in a struggle with itself to be good (just like me). In the book of Judges alone, multiple times the people turn away from God and repent once discipline ensues.

Ultimately, the cop out answer is that God's ways and timings are not our own. But still, 2 Peter 3:9, He wishes all to repent and come to Him.

People before Jesus came could have faith in Him in the same way that we can have faith in Him now looking back. The people who lived before Jesus had the opportunity to be saved. Those who die without having the opportunity to hear the gospel or be baptized will have the opportunity to learn about it and accept it after death. To learn more, see this site: www.mormon.org.

interior a similar way baking a cake starts lengthy earlier the batter is placed into the oven, mature Christian believers, and those alive to GOD by using Jesus Christ comprehend that divine ministry to mankind contained in the earth began earlier advent, and comprises many moves and activities that are later verified, given cloth truly than spirit-form, and could be printed purely steadily. the nature of human understanding and sentience have become corrupted, distorted and perverted by using the ever-increasing, and increasing impact of sin. consequently, common divine responses were made that embody and contain mankind interior the directed concentration of divine action, and furnish coverings of divine pre-existence which have meaning and value to adult adult males purely once they're reborn, regenerated, and switched over. consequently, Moses and David were given a divine “blueprint” to construct a tabernacle, and later, a temple on the earth as a non everlasting living for divine presence that turned right into a replica of the Temple interior heaven (see Exodus 25: 9, 40; 1st Chronicles 28: 12; Hebrews 8: 4-6.) The shared understanding of those issues between those who enter covenant with GOD maintains to spread, even as we talk. For further statements from the holy writings that talk to those factors, evaluate back Ephesians a million: 3-5; a million Peter a million: 18-21; and John 17: 23-25. there's a tactics more desirable to be stated, properly understood, and spiritually apprehended. (operating example, acknowledging threat, and getting waiting oneself for a fireplace emergency does not of itself reason a blaze. The circumstances for installation human existence required such aspects as atonement, lack of life, forgiveness, mortality, and time nicely earlier sin changed into committed by using Adam.) having stated that, I believe this fragment will be functional. God has His own timetable.

Galatians 4

4But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

5To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.

6And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

7Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

I don't believe they went to hell. I believe they were "sleeping" until Jesus went to them. If they believed, they're in heaven. If not, they're not. I can't imagine a heaven without Joseph, David, Solomon, Ruth, Esther, Deborah, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Sarah (Abraham's wife), Abraham, Miriam, Moses... it's just not possible. I believe they're all there.

And why did God wait so long? Because the Jews were a disobedient bunch!

i guess so people would appreciate it more. They would have taken it for granted and we would have more people not getting saved. It is right in the middle of time so we know about it well, still.
