You will need more time, but the FIRST thing you need to do is exactly what he said. Don't leave things out that remind you of him and don't go where you and he used to, so you'll quit getting hurt.
You have to turn over your new leaf. Don't stand next to the dying tree and get splinters.

Shes probaly a rebound but I think you should move on. It hurts and yes after 7 years I am sure he thinks of you and there will always be feelings but obviously not enough to make it work.

the best thing is move on.. time will tell if you and your x bf are meant to be... keep your self busy... hard to what he thinks. treat this as challange for you...trust me its hard but you have the strenght for it..
look at me i found someone we broke up because she has to figure out some stuf on her own. if get back together that great . if didnt i move one at lease she okay for the next person in her life....

If you're with someone for 7 years and they didn't try to give you their last name... I'd take it as a sign that it wasn't going anywhere... and I mean that in the kindest way possible.
