It is definitely wasting your tax dollars and mine for her to have a 3rd baby on welfare but you need to be careful about what you say to people in the workplace. You could be accused of harassing her.
It's unbelievable in this country that people can keep having babies and keep collecting more and more welfare for every kid they have. I can maybe see how a person - a young person - could make a mistake once and have one baby and not be able to care for it and need help for a short time to get on her feet. I can see how maybe a woman's husband leaves and she has no means of support and can't track the father down to make him pay child support might need help for a short time to get on her feet. But to intentionally have babies again and again because welfare is there to take of these deadbeats forever is a disgrace. That fact that my tax dollars go to pay for these lazy slobs is an outrage. I'm glad you told her off but be careful of what you say in the workplace - you could get fired.

Yes it was wrong. Insults about someone's personal life are not appropriate at work and could be considered creating a hostile work environment.
You are only putting your own job at risk. If she is your co-worker than she is paying taxes too. If she were sitting on her duff, that would be different.
I used to feel as you do until I turned 36 while still single and realized that I, too, may be forced to complete my family alone. I have a good job and insurance, but with the cost of childcare to work, I may have to turn to what I've been paying taxes for all of these years. Sucks, but time's up and everyone has the right to a family if they are a taxpayer!

I suppose your advice is better late than never.
Rather annoys me that many men just walk away when confronted with the cold reality of a girlfriend's pregnancy on the horizon.
Annoys me greater that a woman would continue to be negligent (after the first baby) and add MORE children while no support is forthcoming. Babies are to be pitied.
What happened to BIRTH CONTROL!

What you might have missed is that by having an additional baby, she will get additional tax dollars from the government. Not good. However, I do applaud the fact that she is at least trying to work ...many do not.

It depends. Are you a manager of this co-worker? Or did you make this "comment" at work? If so, you may potentially end up in court due to the labor laws you broke. If your co-woker is in need of money, which probably is so seeing that she is on welfare, she may very well bring a case against you if she knows about how she was violated. Labor laws are not somethignto take lightly. plantifs in cases regulary recieve millions of dollars resulting from being "violated" by similar scenerios. I only wish i was finished with law school. Looks like an open and shut case since you already admited guilt in your posting. . . . probably not the most intelligent thing to do.

She's working and has no money, and you blame HER for this?
Why not blame employers who profit from the sweat of others and refuse to pay a living wage?
Were your wrong in telling an adult human being how to live her life?
Well, do you like co-workers and everyone else on the planet criticizing YOU, and telling you what you should and shouldn't do?
Yes, it was wrong. Keep your opinions to yourself.
Fight for social change.

Bravo for being so gutsy. Such women should be ashamed for having so many babies on tax payers' money. To them, baby making is easier than having a job. Society shouldn't condone that and they should be stigmatised for that.

Doesn't she have enough money for some birth control? Free Clinics will give it to her. Sounds like she doesn't have a brain cell in her head. Poor children.

It IS your business because its YOUR tax dollars! I probably wouldn't have said anything, but I applaud you for your honesty. I hope (but doubt) it will make a difference.

It may not have been tactful, but it was the truth. If I had my way, I'd make it very easy for anyone who wants it to go on welfare, but with one condition - nonreversible sterilization.
