Red and Savoy(the green crinkled kind) is good for salads. Plain old green cabbage for raw salads and cooking. I like pan frying cabbage with pork products. Boiling for cabbage with corned beef, soup. Baking for cabbage rolls.

I like both red and green, red for color mostly. For method, it depends what you are doing with it. Boiling it for cabbage rolls works good, or in the oven. The most unique thing I use my cabbage for is in a cake of all things. Shred cabbage of both colors, carrots, celery and a bit of water into a half of golden cake mix. Bake it as normal or on the stove top in a shallow pan (place pineapple on the bottom under the cake) for 15-20 min. It's delicious by surprise!!

Green heads of cabbage. Boil until tender crisp. Add lots of marg and some salt. Even better if you cut it into chunks and cook it with a beef roast. I also like the core of the cabbage Just sprinkle with a little salt. Reminds me of a white radish.
