Also, when I send a text message while in my Cavalier, my dash lights flicker much like the game "Simon". I thought it was a hidden feature of the vehicle, so I started playing once, and ran over a squirrel.

Should I take it to a mechanic (the car, not the squirrel, he's dead)?

Unless it's a high performance vehicle, it doesn't need 93 octane. I have never heard of a Cavalier from Dodge. Get it to a mechanic. Try a lower octane fuel. Check for bad fuel. Bad fuel will ruin some cars. Get an old car. They won't get hurt by bad fuel.

The octane score has not something to do with performance. The octane score tells you the way a lot compression the gasoline can cope with. If the owners guide says 87, then 87 will paintings purely superb. compared to, what Paul S. says, it changed into not something to with engine length or the form of pistons. It purely relies upon on the compression raito.

You may have a engine sensor that is bad, or a bad fuel filter.

You might want to take the squirrel as evidence. They can do amazing things with tire tread analysis these days.

Duh! It's your canooter valve. Have it checked and replaced if necessary. It may be expensive though.
