Not sure about:
Arizona "Arid zone" or 'Zona Árida' in spanish
California García Ordónez was the first one to name the land California in its 'Las Segas de Esplandián' it has been said that maybe he took the name of the Song or Roland an ancient french poem or because he said California was similar to the Amazon and Califia was a legendary amazon warrior queen after which he could have named the land.

Five: California, Colorado, Montana, Florida, Nevada.

And some people might count New Mexico, but it is not really Spanish.

And did you know that about half of the states have Indian names?

Hmmm...most have Native American names or were named for European people or places. Not sure about Spanish names. Do you mean U.S. cities...because a lot of those have Spanish names.
