This is why I am so glad to be an American. This is the Christian goodness in showing love to foreign countries. God Bless these Doctors.

I did not mean to eliminate other countries involved but Dr. Richard Rockefeller is the Chairman of the Board of Advisors and I've heard him speaking out to eliminate common diseases. The poorest countries do not have a Novartis pharmaceutical company that came out with a cancer pill as does America, but Doctors Without Borders take these medicines into the poorest people. For the contribution my country makes I am very thankful.

I am thankful for the contributions of the atheists and other religions. I am thankful that the French started it and other countries other than America work and help keep it going. I call it Christian goodness because I know the goodness of God. I often forget other countries are on Yahoo Answers. I'll be more careful with my questions in the future and try not to leave out anyone.

I love taking these hits for my comments about Doctors Without Borders and because I am a Christian I know something good when I see it. And I see people loving one another as God told us to do. I've seen it many times in my Christian faith.

Maybe now you can better understand why it really bothers some people when Americans and/or Christians claim partial or tangential 'ownership' of the good that organizations like this do in the world. DWB has absolutely no religious component to their mission; it's not fair or valid to claim this one for your Jesus. The lens through which you see the world is yours, and yours only.

It sounds like you're willing to take some of these comments to heart; it's great that you're willing to expand your worldview a bit. And please consider becoming a Doctors Without Borders Field Partner, so this important work can continue.

EDIT: just so there's no confusion - I have no affiliation with DWB other than being a field partner myself.

DWB is the American fund raising wing of a French Organization - Medicins Sans Frontiers. Most of the Doctors are French and nearly all the rest are European, as are most of the volunteer workers who put their lives on the lines supporting these Doctors in the field.
I agree that we should all thank these people for the work they do

It's not American. It's proper name is Médecins Sans Frontières and it's French. And seeing as it's French, I'd wager that a significant number of its practitioners are Muslims and atheists. Yes, they do wonderful work. But they're neither American nor particuarly Christian.

DWB is French.(MSF.)
I'm just sayin.

They are..."Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is an independent international medical humanitarian organization that delivers emergency aid to people affected by armed conflict, epidemics, natural or man-made disasters, or exclusion from health care in more than 70 countries." not American.

"Ouch" Jean, seems we missed one here....
But don't loose heart, "Christian Charity" is still a phrase that is often used when it comes to doing good for humanity.
** Most charities start with the Christian hand, and others join in, and so long as goodwill is done, then WHO cares WHO gets the credit? God sees all and rewards all who do good in His Name (bottom line)...

Are you sure they're all Christians? I know of a Jewish doctor who was with Doctors Without Boarders.
