They (fundamentalists) know that. This is just one of the false witnesses they drag out to diss the Church with.

Pray for them.

They think "statues" of holy people equal worship. I'm not sure why.

They see what they want and make judgments based on their false interpretations of Catholicism.

Having been a Protestant, I remember thinking as they do...maybe not so arrogantly, but definitely thinking Catholics were weird. But now that I am Catholic, I see how wrong I was. The problem is they do not have the grace of "seeing" the truth.

Deu 5:7 You shall have no other gods before Me.
Deu 5:8 You shall not make a graven image for you, any likeness of anything in the heavens above, or in the earth beneath, and in the waters from under the earth.
Deu 5:9 You shall not bow yourself to them nor serve them, ....

A graven image is any carved figure.
Do you have statues of humans there? yes.
Are there candles burning around them representing prayers? yes
Do people bow down, worship, venerate or pray to these images? yes.

Been there, done that.

Nemesis: so what about the bronze serpent God said to attach to the pole?

Incidentally, why do you attach it (Jesus' sacrifice) then take it down and stare at the pole when it was expressly ordered to look at the serpent attached to the pole and not just the pole?

It's not a false notion. You've added to the Bible, even written your own books, and you believe they are just as infallible as scripture. You've added your own practices, some of which have their origin in Paganism, like the rosary. You treat the priest and Pope as if they were God. You ask them for forgiveness of sins. You seek them for repentance. Your focus is on earthly things, your rituals, your chants ("prayers"), your decked-out cathedrals, none of it brings you closer to God. Many of you never knew him. Like the Muslims and the Jews you think your works will get you into heaven. You ignore the issues of the heart. All that Jesus taught goes right over your head. You bypass him and pray to Mary, thinking she will intervene for you. She was just as human as you are. Same goes for the saints. Anyone who loves the Lord and perseveres to the end is a saint. God stands alone and because of Jesus he can be reached directly. But you don't believe in that, and you wonder why you feel a wall between you and him.

I could care less what these anti-Christians say about Catholic practices, they really cannot stop doing this now as it has become their monotonous battle cry.
