I am having trouble finding a place who will purchase a Jesse Barnes print from me. I really need to sell it, but I cannot find anywhere who will buy it. Its becomming a more rare print and is selling for about $1000.00 right now. Does anyone have any ideas? I am located in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

I forgot to say before that I really don't want to put it on eBay because I don't want to have to pay to sell it. I am in a very bad financial situation right now, so I would prefer to sell to an actual dealer for what it is worth, not a fraction of the value and have to pay to sell it.

You say it's 'selling for about $1,000. right now' but where? If you know of a place where it's selling for $1,000., those folks might buy it for $6-700. and then re-sell it.

Unfortunately there are a lot of his prints out there, and he's not really so famous they sell very quickly. Remember, ebay only takes a commission IF YOU SELL IT. Simply take their commission into account when you put your reserve on the piece, and you've solved the problem.

ART is only worth what someone is willing to pay. You can see something marked at a price of $1,000. but that doesn't mean it is WORTH that or that it will bring that amount. And if you are selling to a dealer you will get about 1/2 or less because that dealer will have to market that item and may have his money tied up for several months or even years before he can get a return on his investment.

So you are paying them 1/2 of the value to sell it.

Now ebay shouldn't look so bad to you. Check and see if any of this artist work is even listed on ebay. You can start you ebay listing at the price you actually want and shoot for the top dollar, but be reasonable or you will not sell it at all.
If you don't already have an account at ebay there will be restrictions on how you sell...so... find a friend who is already established on ebay and has a store and can list it in their store.....which only cost pennies. And ask them up front how much commission they expect.

Contact your local dealers that handle this artist work or at least similar styles (beause that is the client base they have)
That will be your quickest way.

lots of luck....this is not an easy task you undertake.

I have 14 Jesse Barnes prints, started collecting in the 80's. Good Luck getting rid of yours. I no longer like his work and I am really stuck with a lot of useless art.
