Why do you give Thumbs up or down? Also, I'm just curious, why do you report or do you report people? If not, why?

Can or will anyone HONESTLY answer these questions?

I'm not angry, more curious. I'll post follow up info because as we know, you aren't "allowed" to answer your own questions or YA will remove the question.

I just don't understand the logic- for instance in my Daily Dog Question. Why the thumbs down?

Help? Insight?

I'm curious to see if more people will chime in on this besides the typical ones. I'm just seeing so many thumbs for things that honestly, don't need it.

It's like everyone loves that little bit of power and they are just having fun being malicious.

Interesting results huh? Look someone is thumbing the answers to the thumbs questions... How ironic!

Sigh. I guess it's never going to make sense and there are people out there who like to be mean and give thumbs down. Of course, none of YOU are answering ME are you?.....

I dont do it at all. its pretty usless. My opinion on something varies so much that it doesnt matter if I did or didnt. Everyone is intitled to an opinion. Though I do feel it can sway they way a person votes. Good or bad. Some people tend not to look at the heart of the answer and just go by the thumbs. NOT GOOD. I personally hate them and get annoyed with them if I get a thumbs down over other peopl who answer the same as me.

On questions like "how did you get your dog," I thumbs-up people who answered the question. I thumbs-down people who rant, are off-topic, or don't answer the question. I rarely report, and when I do it's a clear violation, like "how do I get my son to have sex with my dog" or selling puppies.

I don't thumb the daily question, because you've asked not to in the past, and I can respect that.

Breeding and training questions I usually thumbs-up when I agree - when the answer would be a good solution for the dog, thumbs-down when I disagree (it wouldn't be so good for the dog), so the asker and others who are wondering can get a sense of which answers are "good" and which are less so. I don't bother with "what's a good name" or anything really subjective, and have given the accidental thumbs-down. I'm getting better at leaving some answers alone so it's not just my opinion going nuts all over the answers, but if someone suggests "maybe you should wait until she's a finished champion before you breed," I give a thumbs-up in hopes that someone will consider my little vote. Same thing with "beat your dog until it sits" (extreme? yes), but with a thumbs-down.

I've reported adult content in questions, dogfighting, and attacking persons or groups, but never an answer that is brutally honest.

Funny answers definitely get my thumbs-up. :)

I do not give thumbs down on the Daily Dog Questions. I remember you asking when you first asked about the Daily Dog Question that people NOT give thumb ratings because this was suppose to be a way for everyone to get together without backlash or negativity.

I will give thumb ratings or report if it is obscenely vulgar or a really, really bad answer. (no report for a really bad answer unless it involves cruelty) Other than that, I usually don't rate thumbs up or down or report. There are so many people very eager to report, that I let others take care of that aspect of it.

My thought on it is either many people are thumbing without knowledge of what you requested, or two, people just don't give a damn anymore.

ADD:
I also think that some people are tired of a lot of the nonsense that is going on here while others want to dominate this section that they are report happy.

I stay away from certain questions and just try to do my own thing here and not follow any certain group. (keeps me out of trouble that way)

I normally do not bother with the thumbs up or down thing unless the answer is very good or really funny. I do give thumbs down to very bad answers or advice and because I hope that the person asking the question will realize how bad the answer or advice is and will think twice before acting on bad info.

I do not report questions or answers very often and if I do it is because the question or answer was obscene, slanderous or out right lies and for trying to sell puppies on this site.

I do not always agree with the answers given and I may not like the questions asked on YA but I feel everyone is entitled to their opinion and they should be able to ask whatever question they want without having to worry that it will be reported. It makes no sense to report their questions and answers to have it removed because that will not change their opinion so there is no point in the childish act of reporting everything. Reporting only causes bad feelings between the members of YA.

I guess some people take pleasure in such acts regardless of how childish it is.

I normally don't give thumbs to answers. In some situations like I agree with what they say (thumb up) or some answers are just terrible or mean to the askers (thumb down). I check how my responses how it's been rated. I found out those I answered honestly received thumb down. I may consider to suggest to YA that people receive thumb up/down and got report deserve to know the reason and why.
BTW, I like your daily dog question. I try to answer them each day.

I will report vulgar questions or posts. I skip all the nonsenses questions.
When I see a answer that is just dead wrong I'll give it a thumbs down. But if I see one that is 100% correct than I'll give it a thumbs up too! Especially if the other answers are wrong or could be dangerous to the dog.

The whole thumbs down thing needs to be abolished! It's stupid. It only give the thumbs down fairies and trolls targets .

I give thumbs down only to things that are dangerous (ie. things that would encourage breed bans, ignorant people talking about dog food). I limit my thumbs down to a few specific topics because I acknowledge Im not overly knowledgeable outside of those things. I give thumbs up only to answers that have a positive effect (ie. suggesting proper dog food, encouraging people to research multiple breeds before deciding-but it has to be done in a manner which encourages the person to listen rather than just random abuse).

Ive never reported anyone in this section for anything and dont think it will ever happen.

I do as you request and dont do any 'thumbing' in the daily dog question.

I only thumbs down answers that are rude or out of line..ones that try to get people riled up. It is funny to me that you can tell a story out of experience or give someone some advice or help and you get a thumbs down for it. I think it's just a bunch of what Golden gal says, "thumbs down fairies" who want to get people upset. I try to ignore thumbs down on my answers because I think they are mainly a bunch of kids or someone who doesn't think the way I do about breeding, dogs, ect....I think they are just a bunch of radical people who can't see both sides.

I have reported a few...when they use vulgar language or who are apparently saying things that are out of line and are going against YA rules. I also have reported avatars that are inappropriate for young viewers.

I only give a thumbs down if the post was totally wrong or dangerous. If I don't happen to agree, I do not give a thumbs down.

The only thing I have ever reported is people trying to use this as a classified service for selling puppies.

If I find a question vulgar or wacky, or abusive....I DON"T ANSWER IT!!!!!!!!!! Simple. Freedom for everyone and anyone to speak their mind!!!!!!!!!
If I post a question, people can feel free to blast me all they want and I am not going to report them because WHO CARES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
