This is a hugely debated topic in the Celiac community! According to the Celiac medical community (i.e. "Celiac Disease a Hidden Epidemic by Dr Peter Green) the gluten molecule is too large to be absorbed through the skin. The EXCEPTION however is Celiac's with the DH rash. When u have an open DH rash, the gluten molecule CAN get in the skin and thus in the blood stream.
However many Celiac swear they are affected by gluten containing products so I say if u want to avoid them do so.
The products I WOULD avoid would be toothpaste, chapstick, lipstick or hand lotion. (this beign anything u will lick or if u bite your nails, u would want your nails to be free of lotion or nail polish that contains gluten.)
Also, children with Celiac should avoid playdough bc it gets under the fingernails and u know how kids put their hands in their mouths!
Feel free to email me with any further questions!

Celiac ailment is often inherited. it particularly is a genetic, and is led to by utilising an journey in a single's life, which incorporate an ailment, rigidity, being pregnant, divorce, etc. it could kick in at any evaluate a single's life, and can have indicators, or it could have not have been given any great indicators. with or without indicators, celiacs does injury to one's small gut, inflicting malnutrition and a protracted checklist of alternative problems. there is not any nicely-known treatment at present different than a gluten unfastened weight-relief plan, which takes a sprint artwork, yet is amazingly possible. I even have 2 toddlers with celiacs, and that they are happy, healthful and thriving on the GF weight-relief plan.

As its some sort of autoimmune response to the gluten that causes the damage to the villi in the small intestine, I don't know that using a topical preparation containing gluten is the best course of action. I would think an immune response could be invoked from skin preparations.

I would think they could use that because with celiac disease, pretty much the person eats the food, but is unable to absorb the nurtients in gluten filled foods. That's why they get sick. I don't think rubbing lotion with gluten on themselves will trigger them to get sick.

I think this may be something that you need to run by your allergist. My sister is allergic to Jalapenos and cannot even touch them, so I would not use any lotion that has the gluten just to be on the safe side.
