Just a thought...

It would be, of course, totally optional.

If it went to a public vote, only a best answer would be chosen.

It could remain unknown to the rest of the community, and even anonymously subtract points from the answerer without telling them which of their answers was chosen as "Worst".

...or it could be publically displayed or marked and placed at the bottom of the list of answers, or even permanently deleted.

...or the answer (not the answerer, mind you) could be immediately sent to hell. (...uhh, just kidding!!!)

But seriously...
It could either be a 2 point loss (the two points you get for answering), or a more strict 5 or 10 points to really discourage garbage answers like, "I don't know" or "thanks for the 2 points!"...

I asked this here because this could possibly work in other categories, couldn't it?

But what about in R&S?

Your thoughts?

no, cos it'll ruin all the fun and take away all the banter and it'll be as boring as, was going to say hell, vicar, but no, boring as watching paint dry. and judging by some of the answers you got a few of them could do with a laugh.

Not a bad Ideeee. That would stop a lot of those who just
want to waste time for others on this site. Just deduct
the 2 points gained for answering the question, tho. Yes,
it could be abused, but everyone who answers, as your
example, are abusing the system, NOW. Another good
reason for it is to stop the accumulation of points, by those
who aren't serious answerers, which they use to ask ridiculous questions.

In all fairness, many of the questions asked here don't have just one correct answer. It depends upon how you view the answer to the question. I believe this could be a very subjective system and I wouldn't call it fair. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.

I don't know. It feels like people's fangs will come out and they'll try to fry anyone who's not in agreement with them.

Does reporting abuse cause any loss of points? I'd just leave it with that.

If they do that at all, they shouldn't do it in Religion and Spirituality. There's too much of a division among people's.

No. People would just follow others around and dock them points irregardless of if they are good answers or bad, but only because the person belongs to another religion.

I like it, accept for the large amount of trolls on here.

Someone might give an amazing answer, but on the whim of the questioner would be penalized.

It would keep me from answering some questions. Sometimes I want to speak my mind about something even though I'm 99% sure that the questioner is going to disagree with me. But I'm not willing to wax eloquent just for a minus 15 points.

I dunno if that in itself is good or bad, but that's how I would feel.

I think it might be a bad idea because instead of picking "I don't know" or "thanks for the 2 points!" answers, they may pick a perfectly valid answer that simply disagrees with them. Especially here in R&S.

I think that would stop folks from giving answers that may disagree with the questioner, and that would be no fun.
