It would depend on the reason why they are mute in the first place. If someone has never heard a spoken word, then I don't know how they would accomplish speaking in dreams. If someone with hearing was once able to speak, but lost his or her voice or hearing, then it is likely that he or she would also speak in dreams. If someone is mute due to a traumatic event, well, that person is mute out of having witnessed something so bad as to be completely unable to speak of it, and has ceased speaking so as not to speak of it....that one might be a bit of a coin toss, as to whether such a person would be able to speak in dreams or not. If someone is mute for a vow of silence, then I imagine that person would be able to speak in dreams. The only way you are going to get an answer from someone who absolutely knows the answer, is if someone who is mute just happens to see this question within an hour of you posting it, and is inclined to offer an answer, or if someone who does research of this sort on mute people happens to see this question and is inclined to post on it, so you have some pretty high expectations there..... This is a very interesting question, though...

I would think that a person is mute due to a physical condition. In the dream state, you are in a spiritual realm. Speech is an "earthly" thing. In dreams, many thoughts and emotions are communicated without the use of speech or gestures. You simply 'know' what is meant. In that state, a mute person would have the ability to overcome the physical limitations and communicate clearly.

Hope this helps.

If mute people do not know how to speak, then they will not speak in their dreams. Their thoughts could be projected aloud, becasue they will still understand other people's speech.

I think that is truly a beautiful Q. I would say they do & it brings a tear to my eye. Fair play mute people you speak in your dreams. (Oh I've gone all emotional.)

If they dream they can then yes I am sure they can. I dream that I am a superhero or I am a gymnast, althought these are things that I can not do in my real life. This is why they are dreams.
