So, for example, if I wanted to say "Fred believes in the existence of a god" or "Bert thinks he can prove the non-existence of gods", is there a single word you can use in each case, so you could say "Fred believes in XXXX" or "Bert thinks he can prove YYYY"?

Theism and atheism don't work because they refer to the *belief* in gods, or lack of it, not the existence or non-existence of gods themselves.

There can't be a word for the existence of something that only exists as a belief or concept.

The only gods and goddess's are in peoples heads. Try reality.
