Yes it is normal to react like this. Anytime you hear a family member has any type of cancer there is always a shock, tears, denial and alot of love and heartache.. Your emotions will be there alot until you know what is going on.. Do not let yourself get to upset.. just know that the word MIGHT is a big word.. Your granddad MIGHT have but he MIGHT not have lung cancer... so pray a lot and hope that the MIGHT not is what actually happens.. I hope this helps..
Also if you need to talk to your dad.. Let him know your feelings. that is very important.. Keep open lines with your family members.
If you need someone that knows please email me.. I lost my granddad over twenty years ago to cancer.. Now days there is so much better treatment and diagnosing is so much better.

Perfectly normal. I think your step father should have called you in person rather than sending you a text message because it obviously upset you during school hours. It's never too late to start spending more time together as a family. I hope your grandfather receives the treatment and support he needs.

Yes. You'll find yourself reacting at odd times. It's really kind of part of the grieving process. I hope your granddad is going to be alright. Even if he does have cancer, there are many kinds of things that can be done these days. Meanwhile, spend as much time with him as possible. You'll look back on all the times you got to spend with him for the rest of your life. Make the most of the time you have with him.

There is nothing wrong with how you reacted. Everyone reacts to these sort of things in very different ways. You may find that you will continue to have all sorts of reactions to this type of news and each of those reactions will have their own value.
Keep your head high.

Yes. Sometimes bad news just hits you. You can bottle it up when you feel the emotion coming but when something unexpected happens it can throw you for a loop. You acted very normally for a girl your age.

Yes, it is very normal. I'm glad that you cried because most girls i know try to hide this stuff and bottle it up and let it eat them up inside. I'm not saying go and tell the world about your grand dad just maybe you need to confide in your BEST most TRUSTWORTHY friend and see what they say. It'll bring you comfort.

Yes it is your grandpa, I did the same thing when my grandpa got sick it was probably harder to see my mom be so sad then it was to watch him pass into a better place. Just always remember that he will be going to a better place in the end. God Bless!
