Deuteronomy 13:6-10 is very clear.

6 If your very own brother, or your son or daughter, or the wife you love, or your closest friend secretly entices you, saying, "Let us go and worship other gods" (gods that neither you nor your fathers have known, 7 gods of the peoples around you, whether near or far, from one end of the land to the other), 8 do not yield to him or listen to him. Show him no pity. Do not spare him or shield him. 9 You must certainly put him to death. Your hand must be the first in putting him to death, and then the hands of all the people. 10 Stone him to death, because he tried to turn you away from the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

Hey, let's look at the merits of God's Holy Word the Bible!...

If your spouse is giving you a hard time you can stone him/her to death on the spot! Show him/her no pity! Tell everybody that he/she wanted to make you worhip Buddah!

Divorces will be wiped out in no time...!!!

How great thou art!!! Praise the LORD! Hallelujah... Amen!

No, I only follow the parts that aren't psycho.

I mean that seriously.

However, your attack actually would be a much more pressing question for Jews, would it not? Christ liberates us from following Jewish law (see Galatians for Paul's argument on that). But Jews are not liberated in the same way.

But Rabbinical Judaism has a fundamental understanding of their religion and its texts as unfolding, of Jonah and Micah representing a more advanced viewpoint than that of Moses and the priests of Yahweh. I see no reason Christians can't have the same perspective.

Yes you should follow the word of God in its entirety. But you must learn to whom the passage you are reading speaks to. See the Bible speaks to 3 distinct groups of people The Jews, Gentiles and The Church (believers). In this case God is telling the Jews to stone people to death who follow false Gods. This was a requirement of Jewish law. We are not under Jewish law so that doesn't pertain to us.

God and Christ Jesus is both old and New. Romans 15:4 For by any skill issues were written aforetime were written for our studying, that we by using staying power and luxurious of the scriptures would have desire. 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is functional for preparation, rebuking, correcting and preparation in righteousness, we favor old testomony to comprehend the hot testomony. Why not purely study the Bible. you may study plenty.

Yes, it is very important to live by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. However a wise person understands that the word of God can only be understood through and by the spirit. Fore the understanding of man is inadequate to do so. To think you have the understanding within yourself is to rely on the arm of man, which God also tells us makes it impossible to know His ways. And what about judging others? Yes, it is very important to live by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. not just those you think condemn others but in fact condemns yourself.

First off, this was a command given to the Hebrews...the Israelites. Second, that was the old covenant. We have a new covenant of mercy, grace and salvation through Jesus the Christ.

Duck duck goose.

Yes. That is what a Christian is. A footstep follower of Christ. As Christ followed closely the scriptures and obeyed his Father in all things, so too must we if we want to receive the blessings.

I have never read that, although that does seem PRETTY clear. What it says is that if someone around you wants to worship anyone other than the Christian God, you should be the first in line to physically kill them.

Jimminy, that's pretty severe, but also pretty clear cut.
If anyone asks, I worship the one true God.......<< backs away slowly. >>

Read the Bible maybe you'll understand what is really going on. Don't try to make Christians look bad cause you don't have the same beliefs.
