My bf is 27, slim, fit, good health, etc. and has a 4 year college degree. What would happen if he went in and enlisted, for officer training? He has no prior military background. I wanted to ask at the air force site but they want too much information from me just to ask some questions. I mean, what does the intake process entail? Do they interview him? What kind of things would disqualify him? Thanks

"He would have to apply and be accepted to OCS, assuming he met all requirements."
Okay, so what is OCS, and what are the requirements?
"A person can have all the degrees they want and still be unfit to be an officer."
This gets to the heart of my question: what specifically would make him unfit to be an officer?
I just don't want to give all my personal information on the air force site to ask these questions...I have got some very knowledgeable responses to other questions I've asked here, so it doesn't hurt to ask. Thanks for your help!!

Thanks mrs.
He has a visual arts (film/art/design) 4-year degree. I was told a college degree is a college degree, and he would automatically be placed higher than a basic recruit out of H.S. because of it, and tracked for officer training. This is not true?

"physical and other moral qualifications"

What are the moral qualifications? What does this mean specifically, can you give me examples?

"One does NOT enlist to become an officer, one seeks out a Commission,"

What does "seeks out a commission" mean?

"with No prior service, he would go through OTS( that's AF only, everybody else has OCS)"

What are OTS and OCS? I know ZERO about the military, so you have to spell it out for me. :-)

Thanks for the info, please do elaborate, someone! :-)

the AF wants 3.5 and higher GPAs in High Tech degrees like Engineering and Computer science. if he does not have both of these, in addition to being able to pass the physical and other moral qualifications, his chances are VERY poor.

One does NOT enlist to become an officer, one seeks out a Commission, with No prior service, he would go through OTS( that's AF only, everybody else has OCS) he needs to speak to an OFFICER recruiter to see what his chances are at being picked up.

BTW.. the Army takes nearly 100% of qualified OCS candiates. The AF: less than 60%.

He would not enlist for officer training. Officers are commissioned. He would have to apply and be accepted to OCS, assuming he met all requirements. A person can have all the degrees they want and still be unfit to be an officer. There is an age requirement, but I'm not sure if that's less than 28 or if its' been extended to 30. Go back to the Air Force website and find out what those requirements are and don't just take the word of the wannabes on YA.
