It depends on where you live and what you need help with. Check with the United Way referral service in your town or you can all the local Salvation Army to see what help they have available.

It depends on what you're needing help with. Are you needing help with food? If so, look up food banks or churches in your area & they'll be able to direct you. You could also try contacting your local Department of Human Services (look in phone book) and they would defininely be able to point you to the services that you're looking for.

It all depends on what services you're looking for. But whatever you do, don't take advantage of a charity who is showing you generosity. Don't take help unless you seriously need it & don't have any other avenues. These days charities are overrun with people who go from one place to the next expecting free give outs and then the people don't try to help themselves. Don't be one of them. Seek help if you need it- a local church would be a good start.

Good luck!
